FROM: THE GRAND MASTER SUPREME COUNCIL, ORDER OF DEMOLAY DATE: MAY 31, 2016 SUBJECT: POLICY ON THE APPOINTMENT OF JURISDICTIONAL AND REGIONAL OFFICERS OF SCOD AND MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY COUNCILS OF DEMOLAY CHAPTERS AND KNIGHTHOOD PRIORIES. In relation to Article 6 (Executive Officers) and Section 2 of Article 20 (Advisory Councils) of the Statutes of the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay and Edict No. 2014- 01 (Espejo), dated December 23, 2014, regarding the Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Master Duties, Powers and Functions, and in accordance with the principles of checks and balances in the management and administration of offices and organizations, the following policies and guidelines shall be adopted in the selection and appointment of Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Masters, Executive Officers and Deputy Executive Officers of the Supreme Council and Members of the Advisory Councils of DeMolay Chapters and Knighthood Priories: Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Masters (JDGMs), Executive Officers and Deputy Executive Officers shall be Master Masons who are members of good standing with the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay while Members of the Advisory Council shall be Master Masons who are members of good standing with the sponsoring Masonic body of the DeMolay Chapter or Knighthood Priory; 2. Master Masons who are appointed as members of the Advisory Councils of DeMolay Chapters and Knighthood Priories are encouraged to apply as members (Life or Annual) of the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay; 3, JDGMs and Executive Officers shall not be a member of any Advisory Council However, Deputy Executive Officers may be members of an Advisory Council; ‘SON ABELLA LO LER, ABSA DURAN, Ln 1. JDGM or Executive Officer is currently a member of an Advisory Council, he shall immediately decide and notify the Supreme Council within three (3) days upon receipt of this Circular whether he wishes to remain as a JDGM/Executive Officer or member of the Advisory Council; 5. Henceforth, the Presiding Officer of the sponsoring Masonic body shall ensure the he shall only appoint Master Masons who are not incumbent Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Masters or Executive Officers of the Supreme Council as Chairman and members of the Advisory Council of the DeMolay Chapter or Knighthood Priory. This policy directive takes effect immediately and amends/supersedes all other instructions inconsistent herewith. All jurisdictional and regional officers of the Supreme Council shall take cognizance of this policy directive. The Chapter Advisors and Master Councilors of all DeMolay Chapters / Knighthood Priories shall ensure that this Circular shall be read during its stated meetings following its receipt and shall be posted in the bulletin or news boards in the Chapter Rooms and/or Masonic Lodges for the information of all concerned.
