Why abortion should be banned?

200720745 KIMDAEWON
Nowadays, so many people do sex between men and women even it is not a
couple or husband and wife. And nevertheless contraception like condom, some
unintended pregnancy occurs and sometimes people do abortion when they dont
wand childhood. In Korea, it is widespread procedure and upwards of 350,000
abortions performed each year according to a government report.(1) It has been a
hot issue whole over the world. People should reconsider about abortion because it
has so many malaises.

First, Abortion has serious ethic problems. Many studies show that fetus is
also a human being. American medical experts also indicate that unborn children
beyond 20 weeks are capable of experiencing pain, or at least react to stimuli in a
manner that could be interpreted as reaction to pain.(2) Also, it is a scientific fact that
there are thought processes at work in unborn babies. University of North Carolina
psychology professor Dr. Anthony DeCasper was quoted as saying Babies start
learning about their language-to-be before they are born. (3) Fetuses are human
being. In the Korean criminal law, it says when mother feels pangs of childbirth, from
that time it regulate human being. Korean law constitution article 37 paragraph 1
[Freedoms and rights of citizens shall not be neglected on the grounds that they are
not enumerated in the constitution] says humans life is the most important thing and
law have to protect and guard it. So fetus should be protected and guarded. 1980s
medical circles agreed fetus is human being. Korean law circles and medical circles
agreed fetus is human being. In Korea, murder is the worst crime. If fetus is also

human being, when somebody does abortion, its like murder and it fatally harm
human rights.
Secondly, Abortion could bring fatal problems to mother. First, Abortion can
bring physical sequelae to mother. It could bring numerous side effects like Pelvic
inflammatory disease, salpingitis, panperitonitis, infertility, uterus perforation,
miscarriages, vaginal bleeding, breast cancer and so many side effects also can
occurs when doing abortion surgery. Especially Numerous scientific studies
demonstrate that the chance of miscarriages significantly increases with abortion, as
much as tenfold (5). Abortion could bring mental problem to mother also. Post
abortion stress syndrome (P.A.S.S) is representative. Depressive disorder is normal
symptom and primary insomnia, strong guilt, drug intoxication, sexual dysfunction
can occur. American nonprofit abortion research institute Eliott institute did survey to
260 women who did abortion about Did you suffered Post Abortion Stress
Syndrom? and 29.7% says Completely right 41.5% says Very likely (4). Like this,
So many women who did abortion suffer physical or mental problems, and especially
Post abortion stress syndrome is main problems to them.
Lastly, Abortion can damage to medical spirit and law spirit.
Almost every abortion is illegal in Korea. Illegal is Illegal. There is no exception.
When society gives exception to any laws, it can bring moral hazard. Can we give
exception to murder or drunken drive? If we give exception to every law, society will
go to panic condition. If we admit abortion, it can harm and damage to law spirit. It
harms medical spirit and it brings too many medical problems. Every abortion
operation is illegal treatment and medical communities do it by unofficial route.
Unofficial source of income can distort medical communities and it will bring medical
communities danger. And furthermore in long-term view, it can harm health and

welfare of human.
In conclusion, abortion could make moral problems and it can harm human
rights. Also it can make fatal physical problems and fatal mental problems to mother.
Many women who did surgery suffer P.A.S.S (post abortion stress syndrome) and it
is hard to overcome. Furthermore, abortion can distort medical communities.
Because of numerous reasons like above, abortion should be banned.
