Should we change the present system of education in our

country? (01-9-2012)
A good education system keeps the foundation of prosperity and success for the
country. If a country wants to be independent and economically well then it needs to
check the education system which it is following.
For
- There is need for more innovation in the education system.
- More advanced technologies should be used in this sector in order to compete with
other countries.
- More and more amendments should be done to make students more physically fit and
mentally strong.
- Schools and institutes should focus more on the development of an individual.
- Schools and institutes with education should teach values and manners.
Against
- The system is automatically changing and including new and moder options to help
students to improve their skills.
- The curriculum has already included the improvements like balanced textbooks and
they try to make it more interactive.
- Current education trends are using more technological programs to help students grow
and to increase their memory.
- Lots of programs is been conducted to help students to grow mentally and
professionally.
According to me the curriculum needs a revision on the prospects they are providing in
their education system to strengthen it more.

The government should stop funding IIT's and IIM's and, instead
divert the funds to primary education.
For- Primary education is compulsory for a person to build his/her personality but due to the
under developed nature of India, not every individual receives primary education.
- Government should make a conscious effort to make more people literate rather than
concentrating their sum on a small and confined population.
- Students from IITs and IIMs are migrating from India to other countries for better jobs
leaving a sour taste in everyones mind.
- Illiterate people in India are incapable of meeting the expenses of the primary schools
let alone IITs and IIMs. So, government should divert the funds on educating them with
the primary education rather than giving it to IITs and IIMs.
- Students going to IITs and IIMs are self capable of paying the expenses that are
required for these colleges.
- Compulsory primary education is necessary for the overall growth of the country.

Against- India being a developing nation needs these institutes to polish the young talent to
perform on the international front.
- Students migrating from these institutes results in the increase of our economy while
connecting us globally.
- The growth of young talent in India requires better education and reorganization as the
talent pool is vast and ever growing in India.
- IITs and IIMs produce brilliant minds that can help in shaping India democratically
and make it a better democratic country.
- Students are coming to these institutes from other countries thus generating revenue
for India.
- It is the students of IIM, IIT and other big institues who help in creating employment
opportunities in India.

Smart phones are making people dumb

The Smartphones have entirely changed the world of communication, and the impact of its introduction is
visible on personal as well as professional lives. Smartphones come with multifunctional tools and several
number of apps which bring uncountable benefits to businesses both large and small. It is the prime
reason behind the name Smartphones. However, there is a group which believes that Smartphones are
making people dumb. Do you agree with the statement?
Yes
- The greatest drawback of using smartphones is the adverse impact on peoples memory. Nowadays,
people tend to forget things due to excessive use of Smartphones.
- Previously, people didnt have any problem in remembering the telephone numbers and other tasks to
do; however, it is not the same case now.
- The so called useful tools including social networking apps, fully functional web surfing, games and
many others mindlessly occupy time of people. Instead of doing productive work, people keep on wasting
their precious time.
- Let us talk in terms of money. A Smartphone can be bought under Rs 20000 as well as above Rs
40000. There is no doubt that the expensive ones have more features. But more than 80% of people
dont even know what the features are. They just buy to showoff, and hence are nothing but dumb.
- Smartphones make people dependent or rather say addicted to it. The users remain at the mercy of the
notifications. There is no dividing line between rational use and addiction, which results in stress and
decreased productivity.
- Texting on Smartphones has deteriorated peoples English grammar and spellings. Even on formal
papers they write either the SMS language or wrong spellings. This is another step towards being a
dumb.
No
- Smartphones are directly related to technology. How can Smartphone make people dumb when the
technology related to it changes forcing the people to get acquainted with latest changes?
- Smartphones come with several tools that help the people increase their productivity. It is a learning
tool, even for the professionals.
- Information for virtually all the people is available, which the users utilize to complete their tasks even
when they are on move.
- Smartphones makes people wiser as they can check products of different companies, compare their
features and prices, and can select the best one out of them. It helps to know what are the facts related to
everything, and therefore is a rare chance that people are fooled by marketers.
- Smartphones makes people smarter as they now use the voice communication apps to appear for an
exam, test or interview.
Conclusion
Smartphones can be better defined as a tool that present a latest conundrum of productivity. On one side,
they force innovation to follow people wherever they go, and on the other side, they amplify the negative
habits enter into the peoples lives. Understanding how to reduce the bad while focusing on the good is
the smart way of using a Smartphone. So, use it wisely, and dont allow anyone to comment Smartphone
has made you dumb.

Love marriage vs Arrange marriage - Which one is better?

Marriage is a very important social institution. Every individual wants to have a perfect match, but the
criteria for choosing the partner is different. In love marriages, individuals prefer to choose their partners
on their own, while in case of arrange marriages individuals prefers partners chosen by their family or
parents. There is a continuous debate regarding the best way to choose the partner for marriage. Lets
analyze which one of the two is better.

Love marriage
- Both individuals know each other already and mutually decide to spend the whole life with each other.
-Couple is responsible for its choice and onus of the blame in future lies on the couple only and nobody
else.
-Couple is aware of each others likes and dislikes. Therefore they will get along well.

-Couple can eradicate social evil like dowry with their mutual consent because they have the
independence to take such decisions at their own level.
-The culture of the extravagant spending too can be curbed by the understanding between the couple.

Arrange marriage:
-Arrange Marriage is not a contract between two individuals alone but a confluence of two families.
-Two families involved in arrange marriages know each other very well and are compatible with each
other.
-Because there are more people involved in arrange marriage, the conflict between the couple will be
effectively resolved or mitigated.
-Couple is guided by parents experience whereas in love marriage couple is unknown about the future
complexities in life and lacks this experience.

Conclusion:
Both ways have their merits as well as demerits and marriage is a decision of lifetime. Though families
are involved in most of the marriages, its the couple which has to live together for lifetime. So, the
decision to choose life partner should be left to the individuals. Ultimately no one can certify the best way
for a perfect marriage life because like life marriages too are full of uncertainties.

Legalizing Prostitution Pros & Cons!

'Pretty Women' is a brilliant romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Its
story centers on down-on-her-luck Hollywood prostitute who is hired by a wealthy businessman,
to be his escort for several business and social functions, and their developing relationship over
the course of her week-long stay with him. Termed as one of the oldest profession, prostitution
has always been a thorn on the side of the so called moral people of our society. Termed as an
unhealthy appendage of our society, it has always been given a low status and many have even
tried to abolish this profession. However, they simply pushed it underground. Is it so immoral to
provide sexual services for money? What about those girls and women who have no other
option to earn a livelihood? On top the social stigma it has received, the illegal status of the
profession makes it even more risky. So should we reduce all our troubles by legalizing it?
Yes
1. It is a profession and is voluntary. No one forces anyone to engage in it. The clients as well
as the service providers (as long as both are consenting adults) can decide for themselves.

2. Legalizing this would serve legitimate needs. Many go to such services to find comfort and
companionship. Restricting sex to marriage has not been very successful. Many need such
services as they are not satisfied in their married life.

3. Prohibiting prostitution does not stop such services, but rather pushes these activities
underground. So its better to legalize such activities as long it is voluntary on the part of the
customer and the service provider.

4. It is difficult to regulate prostitution due to its underground nature. Legalizing it would give
opportunity to the government to regulate it stringently. Many say it is social stigma and
immoral. Yet it has continued since ancient times. So a regulated legal approach can be
beneficial.

5. The income earned in this profession is termed illegal thus leading to creation of black
money. Legalizing can help bringing in financial regulation also. Legal prostitution can increase
tax collection and help increase revenues of the government.

6. It will also make sure that sex workers keep themselves healthy.

7. We invest lot of resources in prohibiting prostitution. On legalizing we can use those precious
resources to fight human trafficking, child trafficking, distribution of drugs, etc.

No
1. Prostitution leads to objectification of women. This affects status of women in general in
society.
2. Selling ones body for money is unethical and immoral.
3. Sex with multiple partners increases risk of diseases. In case of prostitution there are
chances of bodily harm too, as some clients might be violent. Thus it is not healthy.
4. Prostitution is also seen as an easy way to make money. But it has its own risks and
sometimes these risks can lead to even death.
5. Many a times services of a prostitute are engaged by married men. Thus prostitution can lead
to destroying one's family life.
6. Prostitution can never be a legitimate business. Just by legalizing it we cannot eliminate
crime. Black money will keep on getting created as black money is created when one doesnt
want to pay taxes for the money earned. So legalizing will not solve problems of financial
discrepancies.
7. Legalizing will simply increase the temptation of human trafficking and drug abuse. At least by
banning prostitution there is some deterrent for such crimes.
8. Some actions are just wrong and immoral and we should not try to make them legal just
because people do it and have been doing it. Many people exceed the speed limit on roads but
we do not cancel the limits. We still enforce them. This for the safety of the driver and others in
the society.
It is very debatable issue as to whether we must legalize prostitution. However it must be borne
in mind that human rights are an important part of our civilization and prostitution does not
guarantee human rights to sex workers. The Netherlands has the most progressive legislation in
the field of prostitution. It permitted voluntary prostitution, the idea being to free women from the
tyranny of the underworld of prostitution. Unfortunately the Dutch sex industry has, since
legalization, been infiltrated by violent gangs and the country is now a hub for international
trafficking and drugs gangs. So we can see that even legalization has not helped the women
engaged in prostitution. Many a times women have no option and have to resort to such
professions. By legalizing it we are simply encouraging them. We need to instead find more
innovative ways to tackle this menace of prostitution than simply legalizing it.

Private or government hospital: which one would you prefer?

Introduction:
The special treatments, effortlessness, cleanliness, and advanced facilities provided in
private hospitals across the country make us rush to them in cases of simple or serious
illness. We cannot deny that the level of comfort a patient and his caretakers receive in
private hospitals is far advanced in comparison to what we find in government run
hospitals. However, you will be shocked to know that in a metro city like Kolkata where
numerous private hospitals have sprung, its still only the two government hospitals in
the city -SSKM and RG Kar -that have a burn unit. Some of the private hospitals have
burn treatment unit but they are equipped with lesser facilities that makes them treat
only patients with 50% burn. In serious cases, the patient has to be carried to the
government hospital. That makes us think whether it is private hospital or the
government ones that are more reliable.
Private hospitals are better:
1.Better equipped: Since private hospitals are aided by a group of people who would
not risk their reputation in the business, they ensure better equipping of the hospital
facilities. You never have to rush around in private hospitals for tests and reports since
the staff takes care of these things. Good quality is ensured, making treatment easier
and more advanced.
2. Individual care: In private hospitals, patients are individually taken care of in the
most specialized way whereas in government hospitals, the kind of care allotted to
patients is more generic. If you have ever visited the general ward in a government
hospital, you will know that the condition of patients already suffering from an ailment is
pathetic.
3. Hygiene: Cleanliness and hygiene is better maintained in private hospitals. It is
highly important that hospitals needs to be clean and regularly disinfected to prevent
contagion to other patients and the visitors. This is one of the most lacking part in
government hospitals where even the patients wards are in the same condition as the
lavatory area of the hospital. This happens to be one of the major reasons why most
people prefer private hospitals.
4. Vigilance: Private hospitals are more secure for individuals since patients are always
under the observation of specialists. There are more security measure as well such as
CCTV cameras and guards. The number of babies stolen or exchanged due to gender
differences from the maternity wards of government hospitals is disturbingly high.

Government hospitals are better:

1. Expenses: The cost of treatment in government hospitals is very low in comparison
to the bills of a private hospital. The government hospitals are funded entirely by the
government and hence there are even free treatment facilities to poor families. Apart
from these aids, the government also provides monetary help to patients of poor
families towards their good health through government hospitals.
2. Treatment to complex ailments: The government hospitals are better equipped to
deal with serious and critical conditions like severely burnt cases. In these cases when
the patients rush to private hospitals in order to get better individual care, they simply
refuse to take the patient in and they have to be rushed to government hospitals
immediately. Government hospitals have specialists to take care of most of the severe
ailments.
Conclusion:
Government aids hospitals to provide better care and cost effective treatment to
patients who could not afford to pay the bills of private hospitals. But the poor conditions
of government hospitals, the negligence of doctors there, lack of beds, lack of hygiene
makes it worse and the patients family is nearly afraid of admitting their patients in
government hospitals. The government must take measures to ensure that the hospitals
not only provide cost effective treatment but also provide better care and facilities to the
ailing patients.

Do we really need smart cities?

Introduction
The rate of migration from rural to urban areas is increasing across the world day by day. By
2050, around 70% of the people will be living in cities and India is no exception in this regard.
There is an emerging need for the cities to get smarter in India so that it would tackle the issues
related with the large scale urbanization.
Smart city can be defined as a city which should be equipped with basic infrastructure to give a
decent quality of life.
Recently, PM Modi has announced his vision to set up around 100 smart cities across the
nation. The 100 smart city mission tend to promote the adoption of smart solutions for the
proper use of available resources and infrastructure.
But, does a country like India require a smart cities? Let's take a look.
Yes Smart cities are required.
1. Good infrastructure The main aim of constructing a smart city is to provide good
infrastructure to the residents, such as water and sanitation services, 24*7 electricity supply etc.
The information will be collected through the detectors gas, electricity and other government
analytics, which will be carefully complied into small grids and then, will be fed into the
computers. This process can focus on making the city efficient.
2. Smart solutions Smart cities are required as it would also provide smart solutions such as
providing public data, electronic service delivery, 100% treatment of water waste, monitoring
water quality etc.
3. Promotes development Smart cities enhance the developmental activities of a region. A lot
of developmental activities such as building schools, organizations, shopping malls can take
place. These activities benefit everybody including citizens, businesses, government and
environment.
4. Housing for All The main aim of a smart city is housing for all. More than 70% of the
Indian population would be living in cities by 2050. Due to the rising urbanization, a better
standard of living is required. To support this rising shift, a sustainable model of housing should
be developed.
5. Provides employment A smart city is an economy of agglomeration. It provides various
opportunities and advantages to its residents. India is expanding rapidly and the emergence of
smart city can provide employment for many. The construction of a smart city requires a lot of
manpower.

No Smart cities are not required

1. Dumb administration The politicians of India have picked up the term smart city to
woo the youngsters. In the past few months, we have witnessed the real face of the
corrupt ministers who rule our country. Corruption has become a part of our country's
identity. Talking about a smart city and creating a plan under the corrupt minsters is a
waste of time and resources. Smart city is not possible with a set of dumb
administrators and politicians.
2. Unable to afford In a smart city, people have to build their own houses according to
their financial capacity. A lot of people would not be able to afford a place in smart city
as it would be very costly. Thus, people from middle class and poor section of the
society won't be able to enjoy the benefits of a smart city.
3. Better utilization of places A large acre of land would be wasted for the construction
of a smart city. If properly utilized, this area can be turned into a biodiversity park later
on. Cities which are rich in river beds and hilly regions can be utilized to avoid
ecological degeneration.
4. Proper use of fund India is a country which is better known for its increasing poverty
rate. Only a certain part of the city would be utilized for constructing a smart city
whereas, the other part of the city would be still under the shadow of poverty. We
should understand that smart city won't be able to solve the basic issues of an entire
state or city. If the fund which is planned to be spent for a smart city is utilized for
decreasing the poverty rate, India would be much ahead of other countries.
Conclusion
India is a developing country and the Modi government is trying its best to develop India
into a powerful nation.
Introducing the concept of smart cities in India is a great idea but due to increasing
poverty rate, lack of infrastructure and basic amenities, the cities might have to face a
lot of challenges. Before initiating the project, the government should try to attend to the
basic issues of the nation such as implementing a proper drainage system, providing
good water, sanitation and health care facilities etc.
A nation with a strong infrastructure would be successful in creating numerous smart
cities.

Social media is killing book reading habit!

With the growing influence and liking towards social media, it will surely become difficult to fill
the room with books. A survey in UK showed that with the increasing age, the tendency to read
a book decreases; the effect profoundly seen when comparison was made between three age
groups - six to eight, 12-14 and 15-17 year old. There have been frowns from parents and many
quarters of society towards the teen indulgence in FB, internet and other social media websites.
They are not happy with the neglect of reading books. Thus its worthwhile to discuss on the
thought that whether social media is killing the practice of reading books?

Yes they are affecting

1. Social media is unproductive use of time as it only entertains you and gives no food for
thought.
2. The amount of education you get from it is very less compared to reading books.
3. It hampers creativity as much of the time is spent on forwarding things to others.
4. Most of the time is spent in searching what others are doing, which can be well spent in
reading which atleast adds knowledge to your own life.
5. Another prominent example can be the usage of 'new' abbreviations to express oneself on
the social media. This hampers the language development which in turn affects writing and
reading both.
6. Due to the fast changing content on such websites, the attention span of the readers has
reduced. So an important habit of thinking over a thought, giving it time to percolate in your
mind, is reduced to a great extent. This is one of the benefits of the book. Books cultivate the
capacity to understand and think.
7. Good reading habit makes way for a better understanding of one's experiences however
social media mostly indulges the cravings of people rather than what is good for them.
8. The role models who the teens follow too are more active on the social media. Teens try to
emulate them.

No, they do not affect

1. Times change and with it, habits. Even if people are moving away from reading, one
can always devise better ways to indulge them in reading. One cannot blame everything
on change in culture and social media.
2. Teens are just trying to find themselves and prioritize socialization over reading
something alone.
3. They are getting connected instead of being alone.
4. With increasing age there is bound to be changes in tendency as teenagers feel the
need to establish one's presence in society, find one's position and hence use all the
methods available to socialize; an important one being the social media.
5. They are learning to find themselves with the social media. This is in no way affecting
reading.
6. Socialization is their current priority, but this does not mean that social media is
affecting reading books.
7. There is lack of literature which can suit contemporary needs and thoughts. The
classics might be good but do not necessarily suit everyone.
8. Also disinterest in reading is mostly seen due to no encouragement to reading. For
this, parents, peer groups, teachers, etc. could be blamed, rather than social media.
Conclusion
Reading enriches ones intellectual abilities. Depth in reading helps to develop the mind
and personality of a person; it provides insights into human problems, and influences
attitudes and behavior. In other words, reading helps to mould a persons character. It is
well known that books can be a stimulating agent for building oneself. In this fast
changing world, there are going to be lots of distractions. We must innovate to make
book-reading relevant again. Encouraging book-reading through social media,
incorporating reading in social media, eBooks, developing relevant and quality literature,
role models with whom the teens can connect, etc. can be a few starting steps. Instead
of blaming we need to work constructively so as to not deny ourselves the benefits of
social media.

Subject knowledge or Emotional intelligence - What's more

important?
"All learning has an emotional base." Plato. There is a new currency in the human resource
market. One with highest amount of that currency is being favored nowadays - its Emotional
Intelligence. Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognize one's own and other people's
emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use
emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. It affects how we manage behavior,
navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. It is
measured by EQ (Emotional Quotient) which is analogous to IQ (Intelligence Quotient). It is
slowly spreading over the turf of subject expertise. It is gaining more prominence than subject
knowledge. Is it really worth that much attention?

Subject Knowledge
1. Subject knowledge will always save the day.
2. EI can get you only little far. It is useful only when stress levels are high. Subject expertise is
universal.
3. In conditions of stability and peace all are calm and at such juncture it is the subject
knowledge that can provide innovation to jump start things.
4. New ideas flow not due to EI but due to experience, expertise and knowledge.
5. Man's inventions and discoveries have not come from emotional intelligence but from
experiments and subject knowledge.
6. Managing emotions may be an important feature when it comes to social life, but in the
present world where development is of prime importance and economy being increasingly
transformed into knowledge economy, it is the subject knowledge that will help get across
barriers.

Emotional Intelligence
1. ''IQ gets you hired, but EQ gets you fired'' or a more positive version being ''IQ gets you hired,
but EQ gets you promoted''.
2. EQ is a better indicator of success in the workplace and is used to identify leaders, good
team players, and people who best work by themselves. Thus one can easily see its importance
if one's aim is to live a successful life.
3. EI is managing oneself. Humans are social animals, which makes EQ a more necessary
component to living a happy and successful life.
4. In stressful environment how we manage ourselves and deliver is what counts. This saves
the day.
5. Business leaders feel that technical expertise alone is not enough for excellence in the
workplace. These leaders all know employees who are technically proficient and even brilliant,
but left a path of destruction behind them because of their emotional ineptitude.
6. People would like to do business with people whom they like and trust even if their IQ is low.
Liking and trust is gained only with high EQ.
7. Not addressing the emotions strain the mind and body. Your emotional intelligence skills
helps make stress more manageable by enabling you to spot and tackle tough situations before
things escalate. Even a genius cannot work efficiently if he doesnt manage his stress levels and
stay calm.
8. Genius with no confidence is at the best a person with average IQ. Thus it is emotional
intelligence which motivates and encourages and brings out the best out of even a genius.
9. They say patience and perseverance pays. Managing emotions like frustration and
maintaining patience and perseverance is what is done by emotional intelligence. Thus it has
been an important part, though unrecognized till now, of all the inventions and discoveries made
by man.
There has to be balance of both these factors. No one thing can replace the other one. Without
a moral compass to act as a guide, emotional intelligence skills are not that useful. One can use
these skills to motivate colleagues or to take advantage of them. Same is true for subject
knowledge where a moral compass guides a person to use the expertise for good or the bad of
society. One must always acknowledge that emotional intelligence may help in problem solving,
but it is the knowledge that leads to real progress. So we must be able to maintain a healthy
balance of both.

Should Maggi Be Banned?

No one can ever forget the two minute advertisement of Maggi. It is one of the most loved fast-food in
India. The fans would now have to deal with a bad news as Indian food inspectors have asked Nestle
India to recall a consignment of Maggi Noodles from northern state of U.P. The inspectors claimed that
Maggi Noodles contain high levels of MSG and lead. The ongoing problem can also result in a ban on
Maggi in India. Do you think Maggi should be banned?
Yes
If the claim of Indian food inspectors about LEAD content being 17 times higher than the standard is
true, then definitely Nestle should be put under the legal scrutiny and Maggi should be banned.
Maggi Noodles is a junk food that targets youngsters and children. They need healthy food to live a
healthy life.
Till now the tests have shown that Maggi sample contained MSG and lead. Those people who support
MSG should not forget that the problem extends to excess lead content.
There is an increasingly growing trend of junk foods and that needs to be stopped at some place. It is
high time such kind of products should be prohibited from market.
The chemicals present in Maggi and other noodles are harmful for children and often lead to weight
gain, liver inflammation, brain damage and other severe health problems.
No
US FDA considers the addition of MSG to be generally recognized as safe. Although there might be
some people who are sensitive to MSG, but that doesnt means Maggi should be banned.
MSG is naturally present in many regular foods, like tomatoes, cheeses, potatoes and mushrooms.
People across the world have consumed glutamate-rich products throughout history.
There are many other junk foods available in the market which in no way can be termed as healthy food.
If Maggi has to be banned, all those foods should also be banned.
Dont forget that Cigarette and tobacco consumption is legal in India despite the fact that they have
harmful impact on health.
Conclusion
There is an increasingly growing trend of fast and junk foods In India. The availability of such foods
makes children and youngsters careless about their health. It becomes tough for parents to control eating
habits of their children. There is a need of change that can be witnessed through stringent regulations. It
is a high time to take some strict measures against the companies that follow negligent approach in food
production process.

The strict steps should be taken not just against Maggi but all the junk food should be evaluated on health
standards and a stringent action should be taken to save the coming generations.

Women should get to wear whatever they want!

Introduction:
Gone are the days when women accepted rules that were patriarchal in nature owing to the
mythical belief that those rules were intended to protect the dignity of women. Women today are
stronger and full of self respect. We understand our good and bad and do not want to be
dictated about how we should lead our lives. Talk of these things and the society starts accusing
you of being extremely feminist. And it is the same society we grew up in which leaves us with
two options - bow down to the rules and be accepted or take a stand for yourself and for
womanhood at large. We talk of women empowerment but blame a girl for wearing provocative
clothes that excited the sick-headed rapists. Some are of the view that it is vague and
hypothetical to say that women can dress anyway they want. Are rules really needed to restrict
what women should wear and what not?
Yes:
1. A rich businessman wearing gold rings and bracelet gets robbed of his jewels and money by
a bunch of robbers. Do we blame him for provoking the poor robbers, showing off something
they wanted but could not have? We don''t. We don''t blame the victims of murder, robbery and
other crimes. If a rich man can by all means flaunt his assets because they are his to do with as
he pleases, why is a beautiful woman blamed of flaunting her body with dresses of her choice?
2. India is no more in the stone age and people have to stop being hypocrites if they realize that
gender equality is necessary in a nation with growth motto. These people who stop women at
their homes, or their community or society from wearing western clothes are the same people
who heartily accept models and actresses wearing them. If modesty for a woman is about
covering herself from the eyes of men, is it not modest of a man to lower his glances instead of
peering at women and making them feel uncomfortable?
3. At times when women are rising above the zone to which they were confined, there is no
reason why a woman should be judged by her clothes. Norms and rules that categorize women
should be done away with. A working woman is still expected to look all traditional once she
steps into the confines of her home. The double standard in our society is utterly dictatorial to
women and has been subjecting her to prove her dignity right from her appearance to her
dresses and expressions.
4. The confidence with which a woman sets her foot into the corporate world is half shattered
when judgemental heads of the society raises questions on her dresses and deliberately makes
her realize the westernization stigma attached to it. For all they know, the woman could be
someone struggling to make her identity in a world full of male chauvinists. She could be the
sole bread earner of the family. She could be a troubled mother fighting to provide a better
future for her children. Surpassing all these attributes, what society sees is the way she is

dressing, allegedly to lure men. We surely wouldn''t want this kind of a society where our
daughters would grow up, not do we want our sons to be a part of this kind of low thinking. This
has to stop once and for all.
5. Traditions of most Indian families cite that a girl who is about to meet her prospective in laws
and husband should be dressed in ethnic clothes to make them like her and select her. Is she
worth liking only in ethnic clothes and not in her regular casual clothes which she wears more
often and would continue wearing them in future? Woman must put their foot down on this one
too. Like her the way she is originally rather than expecting her to be a mannequin who would
put on anything and everything that pleases you.
6. If she dresses up too moderately, she is regarded as someone who has no sense of dressing
at all and should hence be subjected to rejections. If she dresses a bit too bold, she is someone
who is solely responsible for generating evil thoughts and ideas in men. It is an unsaid rule that
women have the responsibility of curbing the sexual desires of men who could go wanton and
she would be blamed for it anyways.
7. It is still thought that women dress either to lure male attention or to make other women
envious. Her sexuality and rights to look good for her own sake is regarded a vague concept.
You look good and you feel confident and good about yourself only applies to men if our almostpatriarchal-yet-fighting-for-women rights society is to be believed.
No:
1. Restricting women from wearing some types of dresses is not always about freedom of
dressing or objectifying her. Women these days are truly allowed to dress the way they want.
Society could do the talking for all they want. It doesn''t stop her from wearing what she wants.
But this has its consequences. In a country where most men are obsessed with sex and have it
in their gene to objectify women, pass lewd comments at her, and think of all sorts of ways to
humiliate her, it naturally comes down to women to protect her dignity from these animals.
Freedom here could have a price to pay.
2. In countries where wearing bold clothes is common, men are eventually used to seeing
women in them. The same cannot be said about our country. We have long had the veil system
where women were required to keep their faces covered, forget about sleeveless or short
dresses. Men here are naturally more obsessed with sex and do not understand that dignity lies
in the eyes of the beholder. Tourists in India have been known to undergo a lot of mental and
sexual harassment merely from the eyes of men.
3. It is utter nonsense to say that a woman was raped just because she was wearing
provocative clothes. It is the rapist who should be blamed and punished and not the woman who
should be tormented to prove that she was modest. However, we cannot forget that it is not just
one or a hundred of these kind of men on loose. The entire race of them is out there free to do
what they want. They are untamed animals. When there are untamed lethal animals on lose, the

safety of women becomes her own responsibility.

4. Both men and women are confined by laws regarding their dresses. Men are also not
absolutely free to wear what they want. Can men go to offices in causal shorts? No. Can women
go to offices in short skirts? Yes. Look at the differences between men and women sections in
departmental stores. Women have a larger and more enhanced sections always, hence more
options and choices.
5. There are some places in US where roaming about topless at beaches is absolutely fine. Can
the same be said about all the beaches in US? No. Women are not allowed to sunbath sans
bikini everywhere even in the same country where at some places it is allowed. It all comes
down to following the laws of the place where you are at the moment.
6. When one is showing off, it is definitely her choice. Not restricting her or stopping her for we
have the much hailed freedom. However, when you show off way too much than common at a
place, you do get uninvited attentions. You cannot expect them to not look at what you are
showing off. Psychologically, it all depends upon the mentality of people in that region. Go to
remote villages of Rajasthan and people will stare and drool at you even when you are wearing
simple top and denims.
Conclusion:
It is justified to say that women should have freedom to wear whatever she wants to wear, given
that she adheres to the rules of the locality and the dress codes in formal settings. Both men
and women are bound by laws but objectifying women in regards to what she wears is absurd.
Our society would never get over this issue unless and until it is addressed. If society thinks that
rapes happen because of the way women dress, these men should be blindfolded whenever
they set foot out of their houses.

Dowry is evil but so is the misuse of dowry harassment law:

Ever since ancient times of the Vedas, dowry has been a tormenting part of Indian marriages.
Sad but true the evil of killing the girl child, which is one of the worst crime against women,
came up from the practice of dowry system. In ancient days, when the evil cause was more
seriously followed by people of all castes, the poor ones thought of killing the girl child when
they were born to get rid of paying heavy amounts as dowry. Enlightenment came, reforms were
made, yet these evil practices continue to ruin lives of women everywhere. In 1961, Dowry
Prohibition Act was passed, but still more than 10,000 dowry cases are registered every year.
Some of these are genuine complaints of tortured women but then there are some cases which
mark the misuse of this law. The home ministry has recently asked all state governments to be
judicious in invoking the stringent anti-dowry section of IPC in matrimonial disputes as the
provision may be used as weapons rather than shields by disgruntled wives.
Dowry prohibition law should be strict:
1. Bride burning and torturing of women for dowry is still an integral part of Indian marriages,
especially amongst the poor and illiterate families, who are unfortunately the major part of Indian
population. Only strict laws and punishments can ensure that the violator of the law pays the
price for harassing women. Any sort of relaxation to the law would lessen the fear amid already
fearless people who commit such inhuman acts.
2. Female infanticide, sex detection and abortion are all crimes that initiated from the evil
practice of dowry system. If equal rights and freedom is to be given to women in India, the root
cause of the evil has to be removed first. It is only then that we could stop other crimes against
women.
3. The narrow mindedness of the society that feels the birth of a girl child is a burden on their
parents has to be removed. Instead of feeling blessed, the parents begin planning on how they
will get her married when time comes and what all they will have to save for her marriage. A
girls right to education gets left behind these thoughts. For a developing country, the
contribution of well educated women is of great importance. A complete ban on dowry system is
the sole solution to achieve this.
4. Gender inequality prevails in India and dowry system is one of the reasons why it is still
popular even when women are coming ahead in all fields of science, economics, politics, and
even in army and air forces. To treat a son and daughter equal, it is important for the parents to
realize that they dont have to spend all the savings of their life to get her married one day.

5. Marriage is about promise of being together in good and bad times. The dowry system makes
it a trade where one party pays the other party for not harassing their daughter. If they fail to
fulfill their greedy demands, the daughter is burnt to death. Only strict laws can stop this kind of
evil practices.

Dowry prohibition law should be amended:

1. False complaints have been detected in many cases and some of them have spoilt lives of
men and their family. In order to trouble the in-laws or revenge the husband for a dispute,
insane women file false complaints of dowry harassment which in turn proves life spoiler to the
husband. Some of them lost reputation, years in jail, loss of job and businesses, and some even
committed suicide after being penalized for a deed they never committed. It is extremely
necessary that these laws should be amended to help preventing such cases.
2. There has been great rise in dowry complaints in recent times. The National Crime Records
Bureau statistics has it that nearly 200,000 people, including 47,951 women, were arrested for
dowry offences in 2012, but only 15% of them were convicted. This shows that the law is being
misused and needs amendment.
3. The women who are abused for dowry are usually of the poverty struck areas and they hardly
make use of this law. There are thousands of dowry harassment cases that are not even
reported. It is not laws that solve all the matter. Educating men and women is necessary. They
need to know that both have equal rights and evil practices such as dowry is punishable
offence.
4. Non bail laws of dowry harassment leads to arrest of innocent men too and that also without
an investigation. This kind of law leaves easy loops for being misused.
Conclusion:
Dowry system is an evil practice, no doubt, but the law must be further amended to ensure
justice to both men and women. Home ministry correctly instructed their police officers not to
automatically arrest a person when a case under Section 498A of IPC is registered but they
must satisfy themselves about the necessity for arrest under the parameters laid down flowing
from Section 41, CrPC.

Live-in relationships are against Indian culture

Live in relationship, a common trend in the western culture and is now a budding trend in India
as well. But the question arises that does our Indian culture and its roots have accepted this
culture.
For:
- Live in relationships have been legalised in India and is gradually being accepted specially
amongst the young generation
- The courts have been cautious about their elucidations about live in relationships, wherein
they stress on the need of a long-lasting relationship and share similar responsibilities as that a
husband and wife share in marriage
- As per the law, living together is not a crime, but it is right to life
Against:
- Live-in relationship for men and women who are already married is and should be considered
illegal
- Lot of live in relations are not registered and if there is any kind of abuse conducted on the
women, then they do not have the courage to fight against it and ultimately succumb to it
- It is yet not being accepted in our culture and this lead to a lot of notoriety in the culture
- If somehow the live in relation does not work, it gets all the more difficult to find a groom or
bride and especially in case of women because of the rejection
- Even in todays time, men prefer women who are virgin and hence its difficult for the girl
Conclusion:
- Every culture is different and its not necessary that we should adopt all cultures from the west.
Every country has its boundaries and respect for women which should not be crossed.
- Marriage is considered to be a sacred relation and with live-in relation we are mocking the
whole meaning of the term marriage.

Rahul Gandhi as a Politician.

Rahul Gandhi is being projected to be next PM candidate from congress after being
elevated to VP position in last congress chintan baithak. Rahul though yet to be proved
though tested many times is young, full of ideas and present hope to all religions contrary
to Shri Narendra Modi who is considered to be very divisive by lot of political analysts
and is allleged to be responsible by his detractors for Gujarat riots in 2002 due to its inept
handling.
Hence at one end of possible PM candidature is Narendra Modi - the suave politician
with a enviable administrative record but with a divisive personality and alleged blot of
2002 riots and on other end is Rahul Gandhi, the reluctant candidate who has been
imposed from top but is seen by majority of congress party workers as its last hope.
Rahul is young, inexperienced but has politics running in his blood and is not divisive
and is quite neutral in his approach. Will Rahul Gandhi be like Ratan Tata or be an abject
failure.

Should women be allowed to wear whatever they want?

Years ago, women were required to wear skirts. This isn't a cultural requirement today,
and likely never will be in the future. As time passes, women are given more and more
freedom. The freedom to dress however they want should be a given. After all, men can
do the same, can't they? In trying to end sexism, it seems only fair.

Rural Marketing Only Way to Grow in India.

Marketers should know one basic rule-India is second largest consumer market in the
world. India has over 1 billion potential customers; hence one can see no surprise why
consumer goods companies see India as most prolific ground for development, expansion
and growth.
The National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) published a study on
consumer behavior and purchasing power of customers in India. The classifications by
NCAER stated three major Indian consumers by their propensity to consume products. The
lowest stage formed the customer base needing the basic and necessary products for
consumption (destitute class) and top of scale were the affluent class. The middle scale had
middle class consumers with more than basic needs for the products but they have different
mindset, differentiated, price sensitive and target oriented.

Sales VS Marketing
Many people mistakenly think that selling and marketing are the same - they aren't. You
might already know that the marketing process is broad and includes all of the following:
1.

Discovering what product, service or idea customers want.

2.

Producing a product with the appropriate features and quality.

3.

Pricing the product correctly.

4.

Promoting the product; spreading the word about why customers should buy it.

5.

Selling and delivering the product into the hands of the customer.

Selling is one activity of the entire marketing process which is nothing but the act of persuading
or influencing a customer to buy (actually exchange something of value for) a product or service.
Marketing activities support sales efforts. Actually, they are usually the most significant force in
stimulating sales. Oftentimes, marketing activities (like the production of marketing materials
and catchy packaging) must occur before a sale can be made; they sometimes follow the sale as
well, to pave the way for future sales and referrals.

Film Actors are Best Brand Ambassadors for Product

Yes that's true celebrity brand endorsements give effective advertisement, because of the most
important reason that people follow their favourite celebrity they want to look, appear, feel and
act the way their favourite celebrity does.
Celebrity gets the primary importance while product gets the secondary importance, the product
on itself cannot achieve such wide publicity, its the celebs that promotes product to that peak the
amount of people following celebs determines the success of the launched product that is
advertised either ways people gives product a shot they would try it at least once just because
their favourite celebrity is endorsing the product.

Net Neutrality
Advantages
The big telecom companies can provide the ways but dont have any right to direct how the
people should walk on them. They cannot differentiate between the different groups.
Net neutrality has remained a core democratizing tenet of the internet since the time it came
into existence.
Net neutrality protects innovation and if big companies like Google and Netflix could pay to
get exceptional treatment, more bandwidth, faster speeds, the new start-up firms would be at a
disadvantage.
It will also negatively affect freedom of speech. In absence of net neutrality, the big companies
could give priority to TV networks from videos it owns and slow down the signals from its
peers.
Net neutrality supports competitive marketplace and provides chance to every firm, from big
companies to small start-ups to take part in it.
If net was not neutral, Google, Facebook or Zomato would not have been able to reach where
they are today. Curbing netizens right to a neutral net will be a big blow for the budding
entrepreneurs.
Disadvantages
Times have changed. Today YouTube and Netflix clog the pipes with huge amounts of data.
The users download insane amount of software, music and movies illegally. The changes will put
a restriction.
The various companies like Google have created services that allow people to make calls for
free on networks that telecom companies have spent billions to build. Net neutrality is injustice
to these companies.
Net neutrality do not protects innovation instead stifles innovation. If the telecom companies
can charge higher fees to the prime bandwidth hogs, they can also afford to develop advanced
fiber networks that support all forms of new Internet services.
Some level of prioritization or restriction is essential to support the best interest of consumers
as a whole.
Bandwidth is definitely a limited commodity and regulation will help restrict illegal use of the
platform.

Smart Vs Hard Work.

From my opinion smart work is more better than hard work because as we all know that its
21 century so the work must be done smartly as per our generation no one has that much
time to work hard they always prefer to work smart not only work smart they prefer to look
smart to make good impression so if you want to achieve your goal you need to work smart
not hard.

Money is Sweeter than honey

Money is sweeter than honey is a common expression which has a special significance
for most people living in todays modern era of industrialization. The global politics of
governance and diplomacy now place more emphasis on artificial factory-based economic
growth than on the traditional natural agriculture-based growth of a country, thus forcing
people to live in such a way that they will not be able to subsist without receiving a
paycheck at the end of the month. That is the propaganda being promotedand to a large
extent, that is todays reality of life.
The recent article entitled Need to Migrate Workers from Agriculture to Services for High
Growth: RBI, which appeared in the Press Trust of India in Mumbai on June 18, 2010
gives credence to this on-going policy in no unclear terms. This trend is a global one which
has been in practice now for many decades. That such an article appeared in a public forum
simply shows how governments see economic development through industrialization as the
norm for one and all.

Women Empowerment is a Cause for Diverse India.

In my opinion, women empowerment is something that has been initiated to let the women know
about their rights. In a way it has given them strength to act against the Violence's upon women
in society. Relationship and women empowerment are two different things. Relationships are
based on understanding and two people respecting each other.
Hence empowerment of women cannot be a reason behind the number of increasing divorces. If
a husband is proud of his wife who is working as well as maintaining household work at the
same time, then the serenity of the relationship will always be maintained.

Computer is Male or female

A language instructor was explaining to her class that in French, nouns, unlike their English
counterparts, are grammatically designated as masculine or feminine.
"House," in French, is feminine = "la maison."
"Pencil," in French, is masculine = "le crayon."
One puzzled student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"
The teacher did not know, and the word wasn't in her French dictionary. So for fun she split the
class into two groups, appropriately enough by gender, and asked them to decide whether
"computer" should be a masculine or feminine noun.
Both groups were required to give four reasons for their recommendation.
The men's group decided that computers should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la
computer"), because:
No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to
everyone else;
Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for possible later retrieval; and
As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on
accessories for it.

E-commerce, the next big thing.

E-commerce firms includingFlipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra and Jabong are confronting resistance
from all stakeholders of modern retailfrom consumer goods makers and distributors to
offline retailersas they try and grab a larger share of the consumers wallet by dangling
attractive discounts.Wholesalers and brick-and-mortar retailers, the worst hit by the boom in
online shopping, are putting pressure on brands to help them compete more effectively with ecommerce websites.
While some electronic goods makers such as Lenovo Group Ltd and Toshiba Corp. warned last
month that e-commerce sites werent their authorized resellers, several apparel makers are in

talks with online markets to get them to reduce discounts, ranging from 20-40%, said three
executives working for online retailers.

Celebrity Endorsing
for
- People like to be associated with good quality brands.
- Brand endorsed by celebrities put less effect on the purchase or selling of a product as
everyone's knows the real picture of it.
- Brand endorsed by celebrities add only a bit of value not to its quality but, to its overall
look so that the product look very good in the market.
- Public has now become smart and they try the products in which they believe.
- People are attracted towards the products use, design and the quality.
Against
- Celebrities attract more public through endorsement and their other acts. The products
endorsed by a celebrity get more popular.
- The publicity remains more effective when the name of the brand is associated with some
celebrity.
- More and more people come to look which products our celebrities are using and they go
for it.
- Association of celebrity with a brand allows it to be more promotable.
- Celebrities can influence the consumer purchasing decision.
In my point of view the celebrity brand endorsement should be avoided to a certain extent.
You should go for the products which you think will work for you. The right choices can be
made not by seeing the celebrity who is associated with the brand but with the quality of
product you are buying.

Large MNC v/s Start Ups

We all who are working in MNC's that these companies provide high Salary but you guys know that,
who are living smooth live in country, all those are working in Indian Companies, They do not have
that much of salary but as an average people stay in Domestic companies more than MNC's. This data
also tells that people only want to work in MNCs for higher packages only, if job is related to facilities,
they should not leave these companies very frequently.
Also these companies give growth only according to their countries and average comes out 5-8% as
average where the inflation rate in India is atleast 12%, how people can survive, another painful thing
is that, these companies does not care anything when they don't need you.

In some experiences people just leave because the culture of these companies now a days is not that
as it is shown to us. The big building they have made for their own purpose not for us. The high
facilitated grounds are to show to their customers not for us, we are just using according to their
rules. And rules changes according to their need not for employees.
I am also working in MNC and not against these but we should consider before we are going to give a
big part of our life to these. As I have seen that work-life balance is in papers only, not actually.

Make in India
Make in India
Attractive destination for investors- India is basically a service industry which is trying to move its
focus away from the tertiary sector of the economy to the manufacturing sector. Keeping this goal in
mind, 'make in India' campaign was launched to attract more foreign investment by removing obstacles
like the remaining traces of the license raj, fast sanction of projects from the bureaucratic web, etc.
Employment- It will also help to solve the problem of employment needs of our growing population.
Economic boost- On the economic front, it will boost trade and provide linkage with the global supply
chain and will reduce the current account deficit.
Infrastructure development - It can expand the investment in infrastructure development.

Made in India
Paying for technology - But on the other hand, it has many disadvantages too. 'Make in India' will just
import the technology so that India will pay for the technology in terms of licensing cost, up-gradation
cost, etc. Also, India does not have any control on the source of a company's raw material supplies. The
outsourcing company bounds India by contract and does not share its secrets.
Competitive advantage - Another drawback will be, if some competition comes, say from Africa or
south America, where the conditions become suitable for manufacturing, then these companies can shift
their base from India causing a significant number loss of employment.
Emergence of geographical identity brands- Made in India can be an answer to these questions. It
can encourage entrepreneurs to start up their business and be a part of the global skill pool as India lags
behind in home-grown brands like German cars, swiss chocolates and British scotch.
Political reasons - Made in India will provide strategical benefits in terms of defense and nuclear energy
sector which are crucial from the political perspective.
Encouragement of R&D - Finally, India can benefit from technological advances by industrial revolution.

Corruption is the price we pay for democracy.

Corruption is any unfair means to get your work done. Corruption exists in almost in every sector. In small
terms corruption exists in colleges where students pay to get marks. In big terms it exists in politics!
As we know, democracy means of the people, for the people and by the people. It is to help people leave
the way they want. This liberty however can be misused. Hence a question here is Is democracy
resulting in corruption?
For

Democracy makes everyone a free bird. Some people especially the politicians make use of this
in the wrong way.

Though it is unfair to say that because of Democracy, corruption is existent, however, the fact
remains that democracy provides equality to everyone that results in people to have their own
aims.

These aims may not always necessarily be for the country.

Democracy allows people to choose their leader. The leaders can thus easily buy votes!

Against

Corruption is not a direct result of democracy. It can exist anyway. At the end of the day, it is an
individuals decision to spread corruption or not.

When people are given a choice to their leader, they must think twice before doing so. If they
accept bribe it is not democracy that can be blamed.

To summarizes, corruption in whole should be stopped. Whether it is a direct outcome of anything or not,
it does not matter.

Degree or skill what is more important

Introduction
Degree and skill are two sides of the same coin. To succeed in the race of life, a person need to have a
degree along with the skill. A degree without the skill would be as empty as the skill without the degree.
Both need to go hand-in-hand in order to be the survival of the fittest. Degree is nothing but the certified
documentation of the skill within the individual. Every person having the skill may not manage to attain the
degree. Similarly, every degree holder is not necessarily skilled. The requirement of the degree or skill

depends upon the organization, the nature of post etc. On a general outlook, which criteria carries more
weightage the degree or the skill?

Degree
- Degree is an authenticate certificate that the person applying for the post is having the knowledge of the
work requirement and has the ability to manage the functioning and justify the post.
- Degree makes a person more confident in his approach and outlook. These things are an essential part
of the personality development.
- Degree can make a person more polite, humble and wiser. This could be in order to take charge of the
job or to climb the success ladder. But these things are difficult to manage without a degree in hand.
- A degree earns respect and social reputation. A person is assessed through his qualifications which is
reflected by his degree.
- Degree earns money and status for its master. The more specialised the degree, the higher the post
and status and higher is the salary package.
Skill
- Every degree holder is not necessarily skilled. It is the skill that helps to achieve the target and not the
degree.
- Skill is an abstract term which cannot be evaluated on the bits of paper. It is a broad spectrum which is
groomed within the individual and nurtured through the repeated practical implications in life.
- It is not the degree but the skill that achieves success. A degree can just earn the job, but it cannot help
to grow further without the skill.
- It is skill which attracts the employers, clients and management which lifts or drops the person. Without
the skill, the person would not be able to catch hold the interest of their superiors and attain success.
- The great people from the history were all skilled people, but they didnt had the certifications for their
knowledge.
ConclusionB
Degree is the theoretical evaluation of an abstract concept which is virtually not possible. It is the
skill that helps the person to grow up both materially / financially and immaterially with respect to
the status, importance, social respect and recognition etc. Degree definitely has its own
importance, as a person need to have some skill in order to achieve the degree. A complete dumb
individual cannot qualify to attain the degree. Hence , we can summarize by saying that the degree
is the first step in the ladder of skills which leads to the success in life.

Gambling or Betting should be legalized in India

For:
Gambling or Betting should be legalized in India, as it can be a good source of revenue for
government. It can be evident from this example- Kerala State Lotteries, which has recorded profits
of Rs. 681 crores, for the year 2012-13. If a single state can generate so much revenue from the
lottery then a nation-wide chain of betting houses can easily generate thousands of crores.
As per the estimation of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) the
size of the betting market is Rs 3 trillion. And government is losing out on tax revenues of Rs 12000
to 20,000 crores annually by not taxing betting. If India regulates the same then it could potentially
help in funding in sports development, social protection or welfare schemes and infrastructure
development plans.
By legalising betting or gambling, match fixing and spot fixing will be reduced to a large extent.
In recent times, many big personalities are involved unofficially in big business of cricket betting.
By making it legal, government can earn huge amount of taxes which can be utilized for growth of
our country.
In other countries, like United Kingdom, gambling industry has huge contribution to the economy in
terms of output and employment. The total financial impact of betting industry in UK, is equivalent of
6 billion pounds, which also supports over 100,000 jobs in UK economy.
Share markets especially Indian share market is another gambling place, where there is no
certainty when share prices will be up or go down. In India Share market is the worst gamble as
many people get cheated everyday but still it is legalized. Then why gambling or betting cannot be
legalised.
Gambling is not bad but just another game linked with economic benefits.
It will bring competition and transparency into the ominous underworld of gambling, which could
help in curtailing illegal betting.
In order to stop corruption, betting should be legalised in the country. Minors and other vulnerable
people will also be protected from the risk imposed by an unregulated market.
Once the market is open, people will prefer to bet through fair channels, online or offline. It will
suck out the liquidity from the unregulated market and chances of fixing will reduce drastically.

Against:
Gambling and Betting should be banned as there are many social consequences of it like people
gamble away their family's savings.
Many times criminals are involved in it.
People put all their savings in gambling and lose all of it and in the end suicide. Considering such
cases government should not legalize the gambling in any way.
If betting is legalized then even kids will start betting. Right now middle class people are not
involved in gambling and if it gets legalized then this section of the society will be impacted badly.
There are chances that the whole nation will become gambler.
It is a myth that legalization of sports betting will eliminate match fixing or spot fixing. Because it is
a fact that human greed can never be controlled.
Legalizing of betting or gambling wont work in our system where corruption is at its peak.
In order to make revenue from the game of gambling, few centers for gambling can be made in
tourist places instead of making in legalize in the whole country.
Gambling or betting should remain illegal and more and more strict steps should be taken to check
it.

Is India a secular country?

Well, yes and no. It depends on how you define secularism and what are the various aspects of
religious tolerance you want to take into account.
What is secularism?
As per the Constitution of India, discrimination against members of any caste, creed, colour or
religion is not allowed. India does not have an official state religion and every person is free to
practice, preach and propagate the religion of their choice. Internationally, secularism has a
more generalised definition the state and religion (and the persons representing the two) are
kept separate from one another.
Is India secular Points in favour

The state does not favour any particular religion

Places of worship of all religions co-exist in the same areas across the country
Equal right to exist and function is provided to all religious organisations as long as their
functioning does not go against the law of the land
All organisations in the country are mandated to provide equal opportunities to people
from all religious backgrounds
The nation and the state have been kept separate from one another no religious
organisation with visible religious credentials/affiliations is allowed to be a part of the
administrative machinery

Is India secular Points against the motion

Secularism should be defined keeping in view the mind-set of the Indian society and not
merely what is stated in the constitution of India
The Indian society is still full of prejudices and bias against particular religious
communities
Caste based discrimination is still widely prevalent in the country and secularism is
also defined from the perspective of caste based discrimination though it is often
overlooked in India
Certain religions outfits do have religious affiliations
Secularism has become just a fancy word it has been grossly misunderstood and
misused by the political leaders of the country
Communal appeasement has become the norm rather than upliftment of all irrespective
of their religion
Political parties still use the ideas of communal appeasement to fake secular credentials
Religious tensions and clashes are still widely prevalent in various parts of the country
and are fuelled by the politicians themselves for their vested interests (give the examples
of Kashmir, North-east India, Bengal etc. and how the state machinery failed to do
anything about the same).

Clean India - Attitude change is more important than the movement

Prime Minister Modi has laid a lot of emphasis on cleanliness. In this direction, he launched the Swachh
Bharat Abhiyan. This movement envisages a clean India through participation of every Indian. A lot of
suspicion prevails over the success of this campaign, as many are arguing that until the attitude and
mentality of people changes no campaign can clean India. So, should government have launched a mass
awareness mission to change the mentality prior to Swach Bharat Abhiyan?
Yes:
-There will be no expected participation unless peoples attitude towards cleanliness and its importance
changes.
- Indians generally cares very less about hygiene. Most of them even spit where ever they want, as they
are unaware of the health implications. Their habit will not change unless they are aware.
-Workers indulge in cleaning jobs hardly gets any respect within the society. Most of them are from
Scheduled casts. Unless the mentality towards these workers and their job changes, we cannot expect
the mass participation.
-People keep their home clean, but when it comes to surroundings like streets, parks etc. nobody cares
because they perceive it as the duty of government even though they themselves are responsible for
throwing garbage and making their surroundings dirty.
No:
-Launching this mission with active participation of PM, ministers and officials itself motivates citizens to
participate.
-The mission highlights the importance of cleanliness very well and making them aware is an integral part
for this mission.
-The issue of cleanliness was not given enough priority during the last many decades. This campaign will
prioritize this issue.
-We cannot wait for changing mentalities and attitudes as burden of health diseases on the economy due
to lack of cleanliness is increasing.
-Most importantly, taking action for making India clean through this campaign itself is the first necessary
step towards realizing this dream.
Conclusion:
Making people aware is important, but more important is that this awareness is converted to actions. As
government itself has taken the initiative, this will definitely motivate people and make them realize that
cleanliness is not just governments responsibility. On its part government can introduce a separate
awareness drive too, so that more and more people join this campaign. Ultimately, these efforts will not

Should brand ambassadors be held responsible for an unhealthy

product
Introduction
People should become more conscious now while buying the products - just because your favorite
celebrities endorse it. Recently, a court notice was issued against celebrities like Ambitabh Bachchan and
Madhuri Dixit seeking an explanation from them regarding the promotion of Maggie Noodles.
The Indian food inspectors, have asked Nestle India to recall the consignments of Maggie Noodles from
the Northern states of Uttar Pradesh. The inspectors claimed that Maggie contained a high amount of
MSG and lead which are extremely harmful for the consumers. Currently, many states such as Kerala,
Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana have pulled out the sales of Maggie from the states.
Apart from Maggi, the consumption of many soft drinks such as Pepsi and Coke are also under scrutiny
and analysis. Celebrities such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli have been promoting these products
and may be next in line to end up in controversy.
But, is it justifiable to held these brand ambassadors responsible for promoting these unhealthy products?
Let's take a look.
Brand Ambassadors should be held responsible for the unhealthy product.
1. Misleading the consumers The main role of an ambassador is to create awareness among the
customers regarding a particular product. They should not mislead a consumer with wrong facts and
figures. Most of the time, people buy certain products just because their favorite celebrities endorse it.
2. Research work Brand ambassadors should be blamed if a product falls into a controversy because it
is their responsibility to accept the role of an ambassador only after conducting a careful research. If not a
research, they should at least try the product on themselves before endorsing it.
3. Celebrity Contract Every celebrity signs a contract before endorsing a product. If a product fails to
satisfy the consumers or falls into a controversy during the tenure of the contract, the brand ambassadors
are equally responsible as the company.
Brand Ambassadors are not responsible for the unhealthy product.
1. Cannot take a look It is not possible for the ambassadors to go into the manufacturing units of the
products every time and take a look at the process. Thus, they cannot be held responsible if something
goes wrong at the manufacturing or packaging stage.

2. Cannot send a notice to ambassadors The court can send a notice to the company which
manufactures the product and not to the ambassadors who promote them. Maggi is sold in various shops,
and most of the times, shop keepers persuade the people to buy it. In such cases, the notice should be
sent to shopkeepers also.
3. Messengers Ambassadors are mere messengers who try to promote a product in the society. They
are not responsible if the company breaks the promise and delivers an unhealthy product.
4. Credibility Credibility of an ambassador is very important. Not every product are fake or unhealthy,
thus, people believe the ambassador and buy the products. People or a company who try to sell
unhealthy products try to take an advantage of the credibility function of the ambassador.
5. FDA should be held responsible - The license to sell a product in India is given by FDA. Only when
this government agency gives license to sell a product in the market does the product come to the
counters. If something has been authorised by the government body, there is no reason for the celebrities
to doubt its authenticity. In such a case, rather than the celebrities, FDA should be held responsible.
Conclusion
Selecting a right ambassador is a crucial part of the marketing strategy. A right person who also knows
how to handle a situation in crisis should be selected as a brand ambassador.

Caste or Income based Reservation- Which is Better

Caste based reservation has been questioned in India since its inception. The idea that people of a
minority community deserve benefits has not gone down well with many of the majority. But the biggest
question is whether caste based reservation is fair, given that the creamy layer gets most of the benefits?
Many propose that income based reservation will solve Indias problems and turn the demographic
disaster into a demographic dividend. Reservation is a critical issue for Indian youth. Let us examine both
caste and income based reservation to see which is the more deserving one of the two.
Case for Income Based Reservation
1. Reservation should be for the poor: To provide equal opportunity as far as equity is concerned,
reservation policy should be associated with economic status and rich/poor classification. This will
prevent the privileged classes in minority communities from unduly benefiting from caste based
reservation, whether it is in government jobs or medical admissions.

2. Income based reservation will help urban-rural population: India still lives in her villages and
instead of caste based reservation, income based reservation will be more beneficial because people
from rural areas and low income groups will benefit. Even the urban poor need assistance and special
affirmative action programs will be able to ensure their continued upliftment
3. People from high income groups would stop getting undue benefits - Those below the poverty
line and low income groups are the ones that need help. Income based reservation will see to it that
people from high income groups are barred from advantages given that they have already received the
benefits of economic upliftment
4. This will stop the rush to get OBC/SC/ST status: Many castes are making attempts to be classified
as backward to avail the benefits. Consider the Patels or Patidars of Gujarat who are an economically
and politically dominant community. Given that the Patels have worldwide presence as entrepreneurs and
NRIs, it seems ironical that they are demanding caste based reservation for their community.
5. Existing reservation policy has failed: Caste based reservation has failed to assimilate SC and ST
within the mainstream.
6. People from majority communities are facing unemployment too- Lack of jobs despite a model of
development that promises unparalleled growth is a reality in India, regardless of which political party is at
the helm. Over the past few decades, Indias young working population has risen while the number of
jobs have fallen. Caste based reservation in favour of the creamy layer has proved to be discriminatory
for those belonging to the general category. General category students are being denied jobs and
admissions because of the caste based reservation system.

Case for Caste Based Reservation

1. Reservation based on caste attempts to root out longstanding social inequality: Economically
weaker sections of society are also those belonging to the minority community. Reservation will help
students from backward castes to access better opportunities, something that they have been denied for
years now.
2. Reservation system opens doors of opportunities: Caste based reservation is a positive step
forward to remove social and economic disparities in society
3. Affluence should not become a criteria for reservation: This will only serve to prevent those from
socially excluded classes from accessing government jobs and education caused by caste systems
discriminatory dynamics for a long time now.

4. Caste based reservation is the best cure for the bigoted caste system: Reservation on the basis
of caste will be beneficial to undo the social dynamics of a bigoted caste system. Including or excluding
castes for reservation based on income level will only lead to the reversion of the dominant upper caste
and create imbalances in society
5. Affirmative action programs are meant to address social inequity: Even in the US, affirmative
action programmes and Equal Opportunity policies are not done away with for the richer class because
doing so will end the representation of race and people for whom the affirmative action programme is
intended. Candidates from minority communities are currently underrepresented in education and
government jobs. Preventing caste based reservation from continuing will only come in the way of
legitimate affirmative action.
6. Reservation provides social inclusion if it caste based: Caste based reservation aims to enable
education and employment representation for social groups that have even been excluded from the same
for many years.

Mall shopping, street shopping or online shopping- which is better

Shopping is one word that brings smile on womens face. Shopping is loved by everyone. Even if people
dont want to buy anything, they love to opt for window shopping. Previously, it was all about the street
shopping. Then was introduced the whole new world of malls and the entertainment. And now it is more
about the online shopping. So which is your most preferred form of shopping?
Mall Shopping
It offers availability of a range of merchandise and brands in a single place. Buyers can explore a variety
of designs and styles under one roof.
It saves time and efforts as there is no need to move from one street to another in search of the
products.
Mall shopping comes with entertainment. There are cinema halls and gaming zones included in the
shopping malls.
Most of the shopping malls have a complete supermarket and grocery retailers where the products are
available at discounted rate.
There is the easy option to try and feel the products at real time. There is no need to wait for the
products to come at home.

The quality of the products is much better than the products found at the street shops.
Online Shopping
There is no need to search for any physical space to showcase the products. The shopping is not
restricted by area constraints.
The online shopping provides immense comfort to the working people who do not have much time to go
out and shop for the products.
With the advent of online stores it has become easy to buy the products required in day to day life
including groceries.
Online shopping allows the buyers to find the best quality products at the best affordable prices.
Compare the prices and then buy the products.
Online shopping can be done without worrying about the time restrictions or without any location
constraints.
Street shopping
Street shopping is all about the independent shops where shoppers can find unique and innovative stuff.
Malls have more or less the same stuff and same brands.
Street shopping is more about fun when the shoppers can enjoy the real fun of bargaining with the shopkeepers.
The stuff found at street shops is not expensive. They offer the affordable product range that can be
bought by all classes.
Street shopping is more about roaming carelessly having a drink or coffee with friends or enjoying the
street food along with shopping.
Conclusion
All the people are different with their own sets of tastes and preferences. The more options in the form of
street shopping, mall shopping and online shopping has made things much easier for the people. It has
made shopping all more convenient. All the forms have their own set of good and bad points. But the fact
is that they have made shopping real easy in the always running world.

Gold monetization scheme pros and cons

Pros:
1. Gold remains dead asset in Indian families. Even when the family is in need of money, they despise
selling off gold jewelries owing to traditional beliefs and hopes of prices hiking so high one fine day that it
would pay them much more than present day. Now that gold could be deposited and the depositor could
earn lucrative interest on it, more and more people would want to take benefit of this plan and it would
certainly work off well.
2. Every year India imports around 1000 tons of gold even though studies have it that more than 22,000
tons of gold is in stock of Indian citizens. These gold are neither monetized and nor are they used to fulfil
the requirements of families at times of crisis. Selling off gold jewelries is considered the last option and
then when the family is in urgent need, they sell the gold at lower prices, not to forget the deductions. This
problem would be solved if more and more people join the scheme.
3. Our domestic gold market would benefit largely from this scheme. There would be no shortage of gold
metals and jewelers would not have to consider importing gold. This could go ahead to fall in demand and
could help in lowering the price of gold in domestic market. Foreign exchange reserves and lowering
value of Rupee could be kept in check.
4. On maturity, people can get their gold back or equivalent amount of the same at prevailing rate of gold
at that time. This would only make gold a better security for those who are sensible enough to see
beyond pieces of jewelry in the yellow metal. You get likely exempt from Wealth Tax, capital gains tax,
and income tax on the interest received on the deposited gold.
5. Purity of gold is questioned when we buy from local jewelers and after a few years if we go to the same
jeweler to sell the same piece of jewelry that we purchased from them, at least 10% is deducted from the
current rate.
6. Designs of jewelries change. Not everyone keeps wearing the age old jewelries passed on to them
from generations. If trends are to be taken into account, everyone who owns gold jewelries go for an
exchange which comes with a huge loss, despite the hike in price.
Cons:
1. Gold coins and bars would not be as appeasing to average Indian families as jewelries made of gold
are. For those who want to invest in gold monetization, buying gold coins seems to be the only moneyspinning option. Where would all these gold coins come from if people are not willing to give away their
gold jewelries in exchange for virtual gold? Yes, there are provisions for gold jewelries but for the scheme
to be successful, gold coins seem to be the only lucrative course.

2. Getting all the idle lying gold to be converted into gold coins to be deposited would incur making
charges of the jewelry that usually is a good share of the total price. The reason why so many people
indulge in buying gold jewelries during Diwali (apart from the traditions) is the lower making charges
offered by jewelers. People of every other community and religion prefer buying gold during this festival
which makes it clear that we would not be willing to do away with the heavy making charges that gold
involved during the buying and now converting procedure.
3. Average Indian households are said to have more inherited and purchased gold than bank savings.
Gold is an asset too for these people owing to the fact that there is no taxation on how much gold a
person has stocked in his lockers. Nothing as of now has been said about taxation on this gold monetized
or deposited in banks. There definitely will be taxable limits which would not interest many and for the
scheme to be successful, gold has to be lured out from being dead assets. This is not going to be an easy
task.
4. Involvement of income tax offices that would want to know the source if a person pledges too much of
gold in banks is not a pleasant thought for many and they may not want to risk getting revealed. While
this scheme could appeal to businesses, temples, trusts, banks, organizations, households might not be
cooperative in this and since this scheme is intended to bring out dead assets lying idle in households,
the mission might not be accomplished.
5. Jewelries would have to be melted to check purity of gold at certifies testing centres or Hallmark
centres. If one is not satisfied with the result, they can take home the melted gold. People would usually
have no idea about the purity of gold that has been passed on to them from their ancestors and melting
the same to be disappointed later is something that will get many worried.
Conclusion:
Gold monetization scheme is the need of the hour for India. Given that we have surpassed China in gold
import per year, it would only be wise for people to take advantage of this scheme and monetize their idle
lying gold. For those who are buying gold as asset that would hike prices, this scheme is definitely a
winner. For those who buy gold in advance for marriages of their daughters, this scheme is just what they
could ask for. It is about time we come out of our age old thinking and make use of the schemes that the
government is implementing for a good reason.

TV Commercials should be banned

For-

- There should be regulations against false or misleading advertisements, as most of

the TV commercials are advert towards making profit.
- TV can exist without advertising, as it only creates distractions and disturbances.
- Commercials coming nowadays depict vulgarity knowing no bounds.
- Teenagers become easy victims of the commercials, as they fail to understand that
advertisers are only trying to lure them into buying their products.
- Advertisements are directed towards the younger generation, luring them into making
premature decisions and buying things that are not essential.
- There is nothing moral in encouraging customers to be non-rational and impulsive in
spending.
Against-

- Advertisements offer a wide range of variety for the customers, which give the
customers a lot of choices to choose from.
- It boosts economy by generating revenue; this money is generally of the people
working behind the scenes.
- It would be a violation of freedom of speech and press.
- Banning ads would create unawareness among the people about the new products
that are up for grabs, that might be useful to many.
- Banning TV ads would leave a sore taste as it would violate the right of freedom of
expression.
- Many channels will get closed not being able to meet their cost of production.
- Banning the advertisements may lead to channels not being able to air impartial
content in national interest as they will have to depend on some particular revenue
sources.
In the interest of the free speech, TV commercials should not be banned but they
should be restricted in terms of the contents they show that might influence the
teenagers in a wrong way. To have Freedom of Speech is a good thing but it should
have its limits.

MNCs are superior to Indian companies

A controversy has always existed amongst the general public about the merits
and demerits of being associated with a Multi-National Company or an Indian
company.
For:
- Multi National companies not only provide people with better and enhanced job
opportunities but also with job securities as well
- The salaries also in an MNC are much more than compared to an Indian company and
hence benefiting the countrys economy as well
- MNCs also help in increasing the import and export trades hence giving a boost to the
Indian economy
- The infrastructure as well as the facilities provided by a multi-national company are
much better than those provided by Indian companies
- Employees working in a MNC culture also have an edge over other employees of
going and working in an international environment
Against:
- It is difficult for a multi national company to enter in India and start and retain its
operations because of the changing policies
- The Indian companies are losing its importance with the increasing power of MNC
- The MNC culture is gradually putting the owners and the employees of Indian
companies out of business as they are unable to match with the standard of
infrastructure and the facilities provided
- The MNCs have a stringent interview process making it difficult for everyone to enter
a MNC company
Conclusion:
- MNCs are definitely superior to Indian companies in a lot of things like infrastructure,
salaries, etc., but they should not be putting out the Indian companies out of business.

Friends With Money Or Friends With No Money Your choice

Yes
- Einstein said that consciousness is contagious. So, any individual who want to make it
big will certainly opt for friends with money.
- Wrong or right, wealth offers privileges, and one of the most fundamental ways to start
the wealth-generating process is to get around rich people and watch how they think.
- It is a practical world where friendship holds no meaning. What really matters is your
bank balance and success in career. So, keeping friends with money is a better idea
than friends with no money.
- Being friends with rich people is a good means to realize whether you are content with
your financial status or not. Combat jealousy and learn things that matter to achieve
your individual goals.
No
- It is true that there is a substantial impact of company. So, staying with rich friends can
make people more spendthrift. In such a scenario, it will really become impossible for
them to become successful in life.
- The exposure to successful people and not rich people can help people expand their
thinking and increase their income.
- The company matters but here the term company should be taken in terms of habits
and behavior. If a person keeps the company of good friends, he is sure to earn a
respectable life.
- Being friends with rich people forces the people to make unjustified comparison which
in turn results in feeling of embarrassment and diffidence.
Conclusion
If friendship could be done with so much planning, and relationships could be made
according to our own wishes, the place would have been a much better place to live in.
However, it is not the case. Sometimes, we chose friends and sometimes it is the
destiny that makes people friends. In any case, it is possible to keep a close check on
self-behaviour and spending habits while with rich friends. Taking good things from
friends, irrespective of their financial status, should only be the principle of life
