1. Scope and Objectives of the Course

To provide knowledge with basics of optical communication system, basics of

transmission of light rays, advantages of optical fiber communication and basic

elements of optical communication system.

After studying this course, students will be able to develop knowledge on optical
communication system designing. They will be able to co-relate and apply
fundamental key concepts of optical communication to modern communication and
understands importance of fiber optic communication in present scenario.

and the third one is the non-mandatory make up / mercy test. The average of best two
is considered.
** The End Term Comprehensive examination will be held at the end of semester. The
mandatory requirement of 75% attendance in all theory classes is to be met for being
eligible to appear in this component. The Syllabus course for end term exam (0%
