A William Joyce Author Study
This unit focuses on the author William Joyce and 6 of his childrens picture
books. Our objectives throughout this unit are to enhance students knowledge of the
particular author, to have students work through language arts curriculum with a strong
integration of technology. This unit is geared towards a grade 2 classroom but could be
used as enrichment in a lower level or be tweaked to hit a higher level as well. This unit
would ideally take 2 weeks given the dedicated 2 hours per day for literacy, with the
many unplanned interruptions found in the common grade 2 class.

students strategies they are working with. Formative assessment will be used for any
projects or other activities.
