Receiving Inspection

Upon receipt of the unit, check the nameplate against

the packing list to verify the correct part numbers are
received.

Keep the shipping container to protect the unit until

installation.

Prior to unpacking check for shipping damage.

Advise Solar of shipping damage within three days.

Storage

Leave any cardboard boxing, plywood covering,

crating, and/or plastic covering intact until ready to
install.

Be sure that all openings are closed so that no debris,

vermin, rain, snow and/or ice can get into unit.

Store unit on blocks, a minimum of 4 high so that air

can freely circulate around unit.

Do not store in contact with the ground or in a wet or

flooded area.

Indoor ambient temperature storage is preferable as

these units contain filtration material. If this is not
possible, keep the unit covered and protected from
the weather.
Mounting and Installation

Clean unit prior to installation. Remove any minor

corrosion and refinish per paint manufacturers
recommendations

When lifting the filter house use all 4 lifting eyes. A

900 cable angle is preferred and in no case should the
cable angle fall below 600 from horizontal. Spreader
bars, supplied by others, are to be used if necessary.

The ventilation filter components have been shop

assembled. No further assembly is required with the
exception of the filter element installation. The filter
house includes 4 mounting slots on each top and
bottom flange. These slots can be used for either
overhead hanging or mounting on a support base.
For overhead mounting the lifting eyes will need to be
removed.

Contractor is responsible for providing temporary

bracing and supports for all equipment until
installation of all components is completed.

Anchor and/or support bolting are not included with

the unit.

So that the filter elements remain clean prior to startup, they have been packaged separately and shipped
loose. The elements include a gel-like adhesive
which can be very messy. Care should be taken
when handling these elements, gloves are
recommended.

Once the filter house has been set in place install the
16 elements provided. The elements are to be

installed with the green side downstream. The white

side should be visible with your back to the flow.

The filter frames include a retaining gate. Push back

on the top part of the retainer to release it from the
frame and swing open. The elements are cut slightly
oversize for a tight fit. Center the element over the
opening in the frame and tuck in behind perimeter lip
on all 4 sides. Return the retainer gate to the original
position.

The filter house is equipped with a differential

pressure switch. The switch has a range from 0.4 wg
to 1.6 wg and is factory set at 1.0 wg.

Customer to supply connections to the differential

pressure switch. Switch includes internal terminal
block.

If you replace or add bolts or gaskets, use the same

size and material as the originals.

Ensure that the unit is firmly mounted immediately

prior to startup of the equipment, and again 24 hours
after startup to verify that supports and/or flange bolts
have not vibrated loose from the foundation or
structure.

Water drains are provided in floor of housing. If

required, plumbing for drains by contractor.
Inspection and maintenance

After installation of the filter house assembly the

contractor must inspect and seal any gaps or leaks
which could allow air bypass.

Components are either complete weldments or

permanently assembled having no replaceable parts
except filter elements.

Spare parts other than filter elements are not

required.

Periodically inspect paint finish for damage or

deterioration. NOTE: Minor localized damage may
be touched up using touch-up paint. Areas with
extensive damage or deterioration may require spot
blasting and recoating. Consult
paint manufacturers recommendations.

Examine connecting flanges and support/ anchor

bolting at least annually. Retighten loose nuts as
required.

Filter elements should be replaced when the pressure

drop reaches 1.0 w.g. as indicated by the pressure
switch. While the filter element can withstand greater
pressure drops, failure to replace the elements at this
time may result in dirt carryover into the enclosure.
