In order to prepare for next week:

Language Genres (should know them o by heart by now)
Narrative Structure & Its elements
Speeches: persuasive devices, structure, dierent styles
(audience dependent)
Personal Essays: PE techniques, three approaches.
Revise over all of the topics that weve looked at for
composition and list all the ones that youd be comfortable
and uncomfortable with. Plan what youre uncomfortable with

COMPREHENSION REVISION: 40 MINUTES

Practice Speed Reading

Approaching comprehensions > dierent options.

Whats your approach to comprehension? Whats the pattern of

attack?

Dierent words to describe authors / speakers / characters etc.

Dierent words to describe the atmosphere or tone of a piece.

What are the dierent stylistic features that you would expect
given the dierent types of comprehensions?

SYLVIA PLATH: 40 MINUTES

KING LEAR: 90 MINUTES

Revise over important moments / key moments in the text.

Revise your characters and the words that you would use to
describe each character, both positive and negative.

What are the interesting relationships throughout the text?

What relationships give you deeper insight into characters and
events in the text?

What themes are present in the text? Go through ALL of the

themes that we have looked at and break them down!

Look at the dierent approaches to character and theme

questions. Which do you prefer and why? Advantages &
Disadvantages?

KING LEAR: 90 MINUTES

STYLE Language, Imagery and Dramatic Devices: How and why

are each engaged? Are they eective? What do we learn?

Read through sample questions that youve been given and

questions from the pre examination etc.

Revise the structures for responding to questions.

Make a list of questions that you have and need answered.

WB YEATS: 30 MINUTES

Ensure that you have learned your points for WB Yeats and
the relevant quotations.
