Prospect Burma
For 25 years, Prospect Burma has been investing in a positive future for Burma (also known as Myanmar)
through educating its young people. Prospect Burma was set up in 1989 and since that time the scholarship

Myanmar by awarding some 2,300 scholarships. Its alumni are currently making real contributions to the
development of Burma, particularly in this period of political transition.
The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship is the pinnacle of this programme and
establishes a lasting educational legacy between Myanmar and the University of Oxford. This scholarship has
been created in remembrance of Lady Gore-Booths dedication to keeping the flame of education alive in
Myanmar and also honours her long association with Prospect Burma since the charitys inception. It forms
part of Oxfords wide-ranging commitment to higher education in Burma, which Daw Suu urged upon the
University when she received an honorary doctorate in law in 2012.
