Another.
Each function meets at the y axis but not on the same points on the y
axis
In my findings There is only 1 functions that intercepts the origin.

All of the lines are parallel and are straight
The line that passes through the origin (2*x) is the gradient of that linear
equation
The 2*x linear equation passes through the origin
They all have different gradients y

COMPARING AND CONTRASTING: (MY

FINDINGS)
this is the only graph to curve and none of the lines cross the origin.

13. Linear functions take the form: y=mx +b .

Using your findings from questions 1-12
summarise what the coefficients m and
c
represent in a linear function. Ensure
that you are specific about what occurs.
Provide some examples for full
justification.
M is representing the coefficient of the gradient x and b is Y

14. A travel agent took a tour bus on a

sightseeing trip to The Sydney Opera
House when there were 30 people aboard.
The tour bus company charged the travel
agent $240. The following week, the
travel agent had 50 people on board and
the tour bus company charged them
$220. How much is the "base rate" for the
empty bus? How much does each person
cost?
Show
this using y=mx +b form. Link your answers
to your findings from question 13.
Y=mx+b
$240 charged for 50 people - $220 charged for 30 people
base
each person cost is
$240= 50x + b
$220= 30x + b
-2 from the equations
240 220 = 20

50x - 30x = 20x and b- b

20= 20x
then x= 1

Empty bus= $90

15. Using your knowledge from this investigation

during your discussion.

I though the angles will cross the origin.

I predict there will be a positive angle and a negative angle.
They will both have different gradient
I predict there will be a positive angle and a negative angle.

16. Look back at your graphs from question

11. When you reflect on these graphs
some of them were linear functions
however the others were non-linear
functions. Investigate what type of nonlinear functions they are. How can you
easily identify the type of function in the
future?
Non-linear graphs are the curved lines
On the other hand there are two functions that are not bent making them linear
functions
Linear quation called parabola which is a curve which is found in many non linear
equations.

Identifying parabolas:
Featu res:. It is a curved line that goes from a negative to a positive end of a
Cartesian plane.
It does not need to cross the x axis but does need to cross the y axis.
