Health
Overview:

In this class, students will learn all aspects of Health and Wellness.
Topics that will be discussed are; Wellness, Nutrition, Drugs,
Relationships, Mental health, Physical health, Body systems, Growth
and development, Diseases and Disorders,

Learning Goals:

Students will be able to comprehend concepts related to health


promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.
Students will be able to analyze the influence of family, peers,
media, technology, and other factors on health behaviors.
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to access valid
information and products and services to enhance health.
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use
interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid
or reduce health risks
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use decisionmaking skills to enhance health.
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use goalsetting skills to enhance health.
Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to practice
health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce
Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal,
family, and community health.

Grading Policy:
Projects/ Class Work (40%): This includes individual and group
projects accompanied by specific rubrics.
Participation/ Procedures (40%): This includes attendance,
lateness, classroom involvement. Practicing guitar, discussions,
notebook activities, journals, and overall use of class time.
Writing/ Quizes (10%): Each student is required to have a notebook
containing organized class notes, goals, and journals. Quizzes will be
given periodically to assess what students are learning in class.
Quizzes will be based on students acquired knowledge of learning and
performing chords on the guitar.
Homework (10%): Homework will be assigned periodically.

Health Class Policies and Procedures:

Be on time and be present each and every day. Each


absence that is not accompanied by a doctors note, a parental
explanation of a religious holiday or by another legitimate
emergency situation will deduct points from your final
participation grade. Social events are not excused absences.

Lateness: if you are late to class, quietly enter and sign in the
LATE PAGES.

Stay on Task / Take ownership of your learning: Work to the


best of your ability and be responsible. YOU are responsible for
handing in projects/assignments on time with a rubric.

Treat all members in Music Class with respect: All of us


create at different speeds, learn differently, and have different
strengths. Compliments and positive mental attitudes (PMA)
only.

Respect our instruments: We dont have many, but are lucky


to have what we have. They are for our use, so take good care of
them.

Bathroom: You may use the bathroom when absolutely


necessary but not during the first 10 or last 10 minutes of the
period periods 3, 4, 7 only unless emergency. To use the bathroom
you must sign out of the Bathroom Log and take the pass. If
abused, bathroom privileges will be taken away unless you have
a doctors note.

Food and Drink are not allowed in class.

No electronics in the classroom (cell phones, IPODS,


headphones, etc.)

Goddard High School will provide textbooks in class. You are
responsible for all readings and work assigned from the
textbook in class
For Class you need to bring the following:
Notebook used for writing notes, and journal entries.
Pencil or a pen to write with.

Instrument & Technology Expectations:


Desktop computers will be used during class to complete assignments and do
research. These computers are to be treated as if they were your own. Your table
will be assigned a numbered computer for which you are responsible for at all
times during class.
Laptops are not allowed to leave the room. You must always use your tables
assigned computer. The use of laptop computers is not a right it is a
privilege. Please respect them and take proper care of them.
