Lesson planning, gaining an understanding of students prior knowledge, content knowledge researching jewellery making,
environmental impacts, definitions of key terms.

Excellent literacy connection, not just listing why/how


Great story introducing the example symbol, linked to how you would explain your symbol
Good asking of questions to involve the class in their learning
Explained each word of the task
Explained how the wearing of jewellery wearer often does not know the history or meaning of their symbol
Excellent question of symbols noticed everyone was blank and offered more examples.
Great helping out students of how to add the rows to a table great ICT skill to teach. Always good to assume the class does
not know how to do something. Well done.
Classroom management Aligns with Australian Graduate Teacher Standards: 4. Create and maintain supportive and safe learning
environments

Students can waste time just searching - really good presence walking around the room.
Good re-grouping of the class. Great to remind students to get off laptops.
EXCELLENT when discussing silver to identify you could hear typing and everyone should be listening.

on student learning

Great to get students to discuss their learning and the symbol they had done.

HINT: Next time offer students a set time to research e.g. 10 minutes then we will move onto drawing etc.
