GOAL 1: Promote teacher improvement and generate ideas for individual and group professional development opportunities

by identifying problems of practice and develop theories of action through analysis and reflection from conducting
teacher evaluations.
COMPLETED
ACTIVITY 1: Familiarize myself with the Lincoln Consolidated Schools Teacher Evaluation process by reading
the evaluations expectations, guidelines, evaluation sheet(s), Michigan Tenure law, and Lincoln
Consolidated Schools teacher contracts.
ACTIVITY 2: Familiarize myself with Michigan Department of Education Teacher Evaluation models
(Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching, R. Marzano Teacher Evaluation Model, The Thoughtful
Classroom, and the Five Dimensions of Teaching and Learning).
ACTIVITY 3: Conduct a minimum of three teacher evaluations during the spring 2015 round of classroom
observations in using the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching.
ACTIVITY4: Based on the teacher evaluation feedback procedure at Lincoln Middle School, write three mock
evaluation based on classroom observations.
ACTIVITY 5: Based on teacher observations, generate professional development sessions that would lead to individual
and collective staff development and growth to improve instructional practices.

GOAL 2: Gain a fluency in researching, constructing, and evaluating a Building Emergency Management Plan in order to
be able to evaluate emergency guidelines in implementing, analyzing, and modifying such plans at a building-level
capacity.
COMPLETED

ACTIVITY 1: Research best practices (including interview with Serena Shivers Assistant Superintendent at the
Washetnaw Intermediate School District) and guidelines for Building Emergency Management Plans to
identify considerations in building safety emergency management.
ACTIVITY 2: Research Lincoln Middle Schools and Lincoln Consolidated Schools Building Emergency Management
Plans to familiarize myself with the existing plans for emergency management.
ACTIVITY 3: Compare the Building Management Plans best practices and guidelines to that designed by Lincoln
Middle School and Lincoln Consolidated Schools.
ACTIVITY 4: Collaborate with local emergency management agencies to review Lincoln Middle School and Lincoln
Consolidated Schools emergency management plans and findings in order to receive recommendations
for improvement AND to plan training exercises in emergency management preparedness.
ACTIVITY 5: Present findings to building-level leadership, the Wellness and Safety Committee, and the appropriate Board
of Education committee in order to make the necessary modifications for the 2015-2016 school year.

GOAL 3: Evaluate Lincoln Middle Schools effectiveness in identifying and developing interventions for students identified as
at-risk through making data-informed determinations.
COMPLETED
ACTIVITY 1: Attend weekly student achievement meeting where at-risk students are identified and are placed in a
certain tier (per RTI model) through the use of school-collected data, brainstorm and implement
interventions.
ACTIVITY 2: Research Response to Intervention (RTI) methodology and guidelines for school-based decision-making.

ACTIVITY 3: Follow and collect data from three students identified in at-risk (two Tier 2 and one Tier 3 students)
meeting to evaluate if RTI methods have been effective in increasing academic performance, school attendance,
and social interactions.
ACTIVITY 4: Propose recommendations to group after completing study of students at-risk from initial
meeting to evaluate interventions used for each student.
ACTIVITY 5: Make a budget proposal to building-level leadership and to the Assistant Superintendent for Student
Services in order to propose the necessary funding for implementation of at-risk programming.

GOAL 4: Ensure academic opportunities and social development are generated and fostered through our building
despite socieoeconomic, intellectual, and gender differences with an emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics) subject areas.
COMPLETED
ACTIVITY 1: Communicate with the University of Michigans InnoWorks Program to begin a partnership with their
summer STEM program.
ACTIVITY 2: Communicate, recruit, and provide information on InnoWorks to Lincoln Middle School students,
parents, faculty, and community members.
ACTIVITY 3: Plan, implements, and organize Lincoln Middle Schools involvement in InnoWorks and trouble-shoot
any issues that arise during the implementation of this program.
ACTIVITY 4: Partner with local community organizations and businesses to explore expanding InnoWorks to Lincoln
Middle School students for expanded opportunities prior to and following the InnoWorks Program.

ACTIVITY 5: Culminate the InnoWorks experience by having students present their experience to the Lincoln
Consolidated Schools Board of Education.

GOAL 5: Gain an enduring and authentic understanding of student discipline and special education law.
COMPLETED
ACTIVITY 1: My mentor will conduct the following:
i.

Mini-seminars on topics related to student discipline and special education law.

ii.

Five mock situations where decisions are made and based on case studies with necessary information included.

ACTIVITY 2: Participate in student discipline investigation, due process, reporting, and communication to
parents/guardians on proceedings.
