What are their needs? What are their realities? These and many other important questions are dealt with under the umbrella of intergenerational justice in this issue of Youth Hong Kong. Intergenerational justice focuses on the need for give-and-take at all ages highlighting the burdens placed on today’s young people as demographic ratios change. We look at intergenerational aspects of longevity, the shrinking workforce and low fertility and compare Hong Kong with other societies. The need for balance between investment in youth and the growing costs of healthcare provision and retirement protection form a common thread in our analysis. These matters concern everyone and we are eager to hear your views. Please write to us at youthhongkong@hikfyg.org.hk Dr Rosanna Wong, DBE, JP Executive Director, HKFYG June 2016
