A. Does the amount of water in the top affect how far the rocket goes?
B. I predict if we put more water in the top of our rocket, then if will not go as far,
because the weight of the water would pull the rocket down quicker.

C. Data Table

The distance the rocket goes depends on the amount of water in the
bottom.

D. List 5 controlled variables; Amount of pressure, same angle launched, same number
of fins, same placement of fins & same amount of water in top.
E. Materials needed for the experiment; Pop bottles (2-2 liter, 20 oz.), rocket launcher,
water, duct tape and cardboard.
F. Procedure;
1) Build rocket using cardboard, 2 liter pop bottle, 20 oz. pop bottle and duct tape.
2)
3) Fill up top & bottom with water; 100 mL on top & 1000 mL on the bottom.
4) Set rocket on the launcher.
G. Check your experimental design diagram with your instructor and carry out the
experiment.
H. Fill in the data table.

I. Write a conclusion.
1. Does your data support your hypothesis? Why or why not?
2. What changes would you make if you did the experiment again and why? (Be specific
to the individual experiment…NOT “Be more accurate” “Do more trials”)

Yes and No, The rocket did not go as far when there was more water in it but, also, when
there was the least amount of water in the bottle it did not go as far either. This shows that
there is a peak of when the rocket will go the farthest with water amounts. I think that I would
have more trials if I did this experiment again. I believe that I would also want to have a more
controlled environment where wind speeds don't change and effect the trials. All in all I think
that this experiment worked quite well and supported our hypothesis.
