Immediate Energy System

Martin Penson 1
Energy transfer
• Immediate-ATP-PC “alactic anaerobic”
system.
• Short term “lactic acid” system.
• Long term “aerobic” system.

How is energy released?
• All the energy is stored within the chemical
bonds of the adenosine and three
phosphate molecules.
• When one of the bonds is broken energy
is released.
• This provides the energy for all forms of
sport/exercise.

• The energy released is only

sufficient to provide exercise
for….

2 SECONDS

Activities
• Shot putt.
• Tennis serve.
• Javelin throw.
• Golf shot.

For exercise to continue we need?

A SUBSTANCE
CALLED
PHOSPOCREATINE

With the supply of

Phosphocreatine we can then
exercise for…..
