REMODEL OF SOMERFIELD STORE

Approach
Initial CBES undertook a dilapidation survey with Somerfield’s consultant prior to
quoting to replace the existing plant.

CBES proposed housed external plant, roof mounted on steel supports as the
preferred option, freeing space within store for a new frozen food room. This
approach greatly reduced store disruption, unsightly ceiling removals, cost of
replacing ceiling areas and enabled 1st fix works to be carried out in normal
working hours.

Health and Safety

By installing mechanical and electrical service externally on traywork using raised
service brackets to allow future roof maintenance CBES met health and safety
restrictions and minimized risks. Old equipment was disposed of to current
regulations.

Throughout the project health and safety was of paramount importance with site
specific risk analysis, method statements, COSCH and site health and safety plan
compiled and adhered to at all times.
