The Denver Police Department is holding a press conference on July 27, 2010, at 7:30 a.m. at I-
225 and DTC Boulevard to talk about an on-going traffic problem. The problem is gore lane
violations and illegal lane change violations. Drivers must abide by Section 54-203, Unlawful to
cross islands and gore areas, of the Denver Revised Municipal Code which prohibits drivers
from crossing islands or gore areas constructed or marked on streets or highways. Drivers
frequently cut across the solid white lines at this location to exit or merge onto the interstate.
Officers have observed these illegal lane changes and the violations are dangerous to both
the violator and other motorists. These types of violations are frustrating to the other
motorists who abide by the law and   wait to legally merge into their place on the road.  This type
of 'cutting in line " can lead to road rage incidents.

Denver Police Traffic Enforcement Officers will talk about the concerns of this law violation and
they will conduct traffic operations, targeting violators of this law.
