the sole nourish the sustainer of the universe, who taught me and guided my

step to this humble effort.

I wish to profound my gratitude toward my supervisor Dr. M. R. Rawtani, Asso.

Prof., Department of Library and Information Science, University of Rajasthan,

Jaipur, whose encouragement, guidance and support from the initial to the final

level enabled me to develop an understanding of the subject. Whose help,

stimulating suggestions and encouragement helped me in all the time of research

and writing of this thesis.

I wish to pay my great appreciation to Dr. P. K. Gupta, Deputy Librarian,

Rajasthan University Library, Jaipur, who gave me the possibility to complete this

thesis.

suggestions for improvement.

No one, however, helped more directly and continuously in writing this thesis

than my wife Vibha Gupta. Through each stage of preparation, she shared the

burdens, anxieties and pleasures of this study. She also worked hard to support

me so that I could complete this study according to schedule. Without the love of

Vibha and my son Himanshu and Shashank this thesis could not have been

written. To my wife I owe an immeasurable debt and deep affection.
