28th International Safety Professionals Development Conference
The Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency Babangida Aliyu, Executive Governor of
Niger State, Guest of Honour and Chief Host, His Excellency Arc Mohammed Namadi
Sambo, Executive Governor of Kaduna State,
Guests of Honour, federal Ministers of Labour, Education, Transport and Environment
The Board of the Trustees,
The National Executive Council Members of NISP
Gentlemen of the Press
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen
It is with delight that l welcome you all to the 28th Annual Professional development
Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals taking place here in Kaduna
State. It is a great pleasure to be here today and most importantly a big honour to address
you. I am delighted and passionate about it.
The Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals is gratified to note the excellent initiatives of
the Kaduna State Governor to combat violet crimes and make Kaduna Safer since the
inception of his administration.
The creative and sustaining efforts of the Federal Road Safety Commission to improve
safety on Nigerian roads is worthy of our commendation too.
The Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals (NISP) is leading the way in promoting
HSE profession in African Sub-region and advocating for the Professionals. The more
NISP influences the profession, the more our members will be in position of influence
safety in their places.
Safety profession has come of age; we cannot continue to allow other professions to direct
us, dictate for us and move us around at will. A change is over due and the time for that
change is now! Safety Professionals need to be more vocal now than ever in promoting the
value of Safety and the importance of the profession. The Institute over the years has
progressed a great deal in its bid to build a viral and true professional body. We have done
so much in recent past to close up wider gap created in the profession over the years.
I wish this time around to appeal to federal, state and Local governments to use the
resources available in NISP to reduce losses in Public sector. Let Safety Management be
taught in all Schools.
I want to say here without mincing words that without active participation of the Safety
Professionals, the nation will continue to lose vital components of resources necessary to
achieve Vision 2020 of the Federal Government. Involve NISP, we will surely make a
difference. This is indeed a big challenge that must be addressed with seriousness.
It is from this we have drawn our conference theme for this year, experts have been
carefully chosen to deliver these papers to enhance knowledge and skills of participants.
I want to thank the following organizations that, inspite of the short notice and current
economic recession, sponsored our Conference. The organizations are;
Thank you so much for your support, may God keep you in business.
Once again, I welcome you all and wish you wonderful stay. Please enjoy the proceedings
and hospitality of kaduna State.
