1. Formation processes:
a. Ice movement
i. Basal sliding-ice flows in layers., sliding
over melting ice at base of glacier.

b. Erosion
i. Plucking-pieces of rock torn from rock
surface as ice tears away from slopes
ii. Abrasion –“sand paper effect where land
surface is scoured by the moving ice
c. Weathering
i. Break up of rocks by the weather.Frost
shattering (freeze-thaw): where frost gets
into rocks, shattering the surface into
small, sharp fragments. Important at
summits of mountains
