TITLE: The Effect of Radio Frequency on Rice Weevils

ABSTRACT:

Nowadays, rice is one of our important national sources. Rice is the processed paddy and its skin
been removed totally. Rice needs to be cook or braise before eat. It has a lot of nutrients such as
vitamins, protein and also fat. Its nutrients could be decrease if it stored for a long period and can make
it dusty. Besides that, rice weevils also will attack the storage. Weevils or sitophilus oryzae is labeled as a
pest which can live for a long period. The adult rice weevils survive for up to 2 years. The rice weevils
can damage the rice and as a result rice will be shattered.

The objective for my research is to find solution for this rice weevils problem so that the quality
of rice assured, either before or after the rice packaging in the factory. Thus, this research can help
produce a very well and good quality of rice for the consumers out there.

The research concerns in finding the optimum value of radio frequency and time needed to emit
the sample of rice with radio frequency. The emission of radio frequency towards the sample of rice will
make the process of life cycle of a weevil faster than usual as it is known that the larva of weevil is in the
rice. This research will need a very large value of radio frequency that is about 0.2 GHz to 20 GHz. The
scanning electron microscope (SEM) will be use to see the result of radio frequency emission towards
the sample of rice.

The probably result from the research is based on the optimum value of radio frequency that
make the weevil grown up faster and time needed to emit the radio frequency. Besides, this research
hopefully will be a good application of radio frequency in our daily life.
