(Q) (@) List the drawbacks of growth factor methods used for trip distribution O) (&) What are diversion curves ? What are the purposes for which they are used in the Transportation Planning Process.? Q) (® List the main stages involved in Urban Transportation Planning = 2) 2. (a) Arrival times of vehicles at sensors placed on the four approaches of an intersection are given below. 2-phase (N-S and E-W) vehicle actuated signal controls the traffic. Draw timing diagrams for the two phases. Assume that Green indication is given to N-S approaches at ‘0’ seconds. Provide a 3 second amber period (after green). Minimum and maximum Green periods considered are 10. and 60. seconds. respectively. 3 seconds (green). extension period may be used. The arrival timings of vehicles coming along the two approaches of a phase are to be considered together. Also compute the average stopped delay incurred by the vehicles coming along the Southern approach. 0) [Approach _] Vehicle arrival time at detector (seconds) N 0, 3, 9, 14, 21, 25, 28, 35, 42, 45, 49, 55, 67,.69, 72, 75, 84, 88, 90 s 5, 8, 10, 17, 23, 25, 26, 31, 39, 47, 58, 63, 69, 76, 85, 89 1, 5, 8, 13, 16, 25, 28, 30, 35, 39, 46, 50, 55, 63, 69, 75, 86 “ 4, 9, 14, 21, 27, 30, 32, 39, 45, 49, 58, 64, 65, 72, 79, 84, 85, 90.
