Module 15: Siebel Analytics

Applications Overview
Module Objectives

After completing this module you will be able to:

 Describe prebuilt Siebel Analytics Applications
 Describe the role of the prebuilt Siebel Analytics
Repository
 Describe role-based analytics

Why you need to know:

 Provides an understanding of how Siebel Analytics is
integrated with Siebel eBusiness Applications

Module 15: Siebel Analytics Applications Overview 2 of 20

Siebel Analytics Applications
 Provides all that the standalone application does, plus
applications for common industry analytical processing such as
Service Analytics, Sales Analytics, Pharma Analytics, and so on
 A prebuilt database (Siebel Relationship Management
Warehouse) designed for analytical processing with prebuilt
routines to extract, load, and transform data from the Siebel
eBusiness application (transactional) database
 Prebuilt repositories that are configured to work with the SRMW
 Prebuilt role-based Dashboards to support the needs of line
managers to chief executive officers
 Prebuilt screens, views, and applets to support accessing the
supplied Dashboards through a Siebel application

Module 15: Siebel Analytics Applications Overview 3 of 20

Siebel Relationship Management Warehouse
 Prebuilt database in star schema format
 Uses Siebel Analytics tools to design, manage, and run routines
to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from the Siebel
eBusiness Applications (transactional) database and external
databases

Data is loaded W_GEO_D W_TERR_D

Loading the Data Warehouse
 Prebuilt batch processes are used to extract, transform, and
load data into the Siebel Relationship Management Warehouse
(SRMW)
 Extract data from the Siebel system
 Transform data into optimized format—numeric aggregations
 Load data into the SRMW
 Can be full or refresh loads
 Data Warehouse
 Focuses on a subset of corporate data
 Optimized to quickly retrieve only needed data

Prebuilt Siebel Analytics Repository
 Has subject-specific business models that map to the SRMW
and Siebel operational (OLTP) database

Prebuilt Siebel Analytics Repository: Data Sources
 Business models map to prebuilt data sources
 Can map to more than one database

Note: Not all subject areas

are designed for end users;
some are designed for
administrators

Role-Based Analytics
 Prebuilt Dashboards are role-based
 User’s Siebel application login or position determines the data
visible
 User’s Siebel role in organization determines the type of analytics
applications available

Role-Based Analytics Continued
 Data and views available are controlled by the Siebel security
model (discussed in a earlier module)

Configuring Analytics Applications
 After installation, you must configure the Siebel Analytics
repository and initialize the Siebel operational application
 Configure the Analytics repository using the Siebel Analytics
Administration Tool
 Change the database connection type for the data sources relevant to
your analytics operational applications
 Change the default data source names (DSN) and DSN user name to
conform with your DSNs and DSN user name
 Change the table owner to match the owner of your database
environment for:
 Siebel OLTP database
 Siebel Data Warehouse
 Change the operational application host name to the host name of
the machine that runs Siebel Analytics Web
