THE DIVINE TREE OF LIFE

By Dionne Sabbay Thompson September 14, 2010

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations Revelation 22:2.

Without Christs redemptive plan, mankind would have no right to the tree of life, unto eternal salvation Rev. 22:14. A tree bears fruit according to its nature, and Gods nature is loving, as evidenced in His Decalogue, the Ten Commandments Exo. 20, John 1:12, 13, 1John 4:8, 16. The Latter rain, the Holy Spirits outpouring, will bring Gods harvest to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ or the full corn in the ear Zech. 10:1, Mark 4:28, Eph. 4:13, James 5:7. The tree of life as described in the Bible is a tree that possesses supernatural virtue, empowering partakers to live eternally. Its fruit was the antidote of death and once sin entered the earth, if the tree of life was permitted to remain in our first parents diet, would sin be then immortalized? (Maranatha page 325). The tree of lifes current location is within the paradise above; transplanted by the Husbandman, God the Father, following the entrance of sin into planet earth (John 15:1, Maranatha page 325). The condition of eating of this tree of life is obedience through the righteousness of Christ, a gift imputed to earthly mankind. Adam and Eve both forfeited their rights to the tree of life through disobedience or by way of transgression, a falling away from truth. More hopeful, the redeemed, after reproducing Christs perfect character will be permitted to partake of this magnificent tree of life, unto eternal salvation, as they will have overcome the world and its iniquity. One may ask, how can one determine that mankind has degenerated since the inception of creation? An answer lies in this

following Spirit of Prophecy quotation: Restored to the tree of life in the long-lost Eden, the redeemed will "grow up" to the full stature of the race in its primeval glory (Maranatha page 325). Many have asked, why would God choose to create a tree having the knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden near the tree of life Gen.2:9, 17? In response to this often pondered question, the following is a direct quotation from The Spirit of Prophecy Volume 1 Chapter 3 page 27:
When Adam and Eve were placed in the beautiful garden, they had everything for their happiness which they could desire. But he chose, in his all-wise arrangements, to test their loyalty before they could be rendered eternally secure. They were to have his favor, and he was to converse with them, and they with him. Yet he did not place evil out of their reach. Satan was permitted to tempt them. If they endured the trial, they were to be in perpetual favor with God and the heavenly angels.1

And finally:
Gods final righteous generation will serve a purpose of ultimately vindicating Gods Government. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own (Christs Object Lessons page 69). Regarding the great controversy between God and Satan, the Most Highs differing, loving, governing principles and its demonstration will be settled absent of the use of force (1John 1:5, 4:8, The Desire of Ages page 22). Ultimately, such a controversy must be resolved by demonstration of applied principles by which each government operates (How Will Sin Be Eradicated? By Might or by Right? by Force or by Love pages 6, 7 by Dr. E. O. Douglin). The Messiah, Christ Jesus, was born in sinful fallen flesh, as the Last Adam, a Quickening Spirit; a remedy for mankinds sin problem, delivering fallen mankind from the second death and the corruptibility of the flesh; empowering all to manifest A SOUL SEALED AT CHARACTER PERFECTION Matt. 5:48, Rom. 8:1-4, 1Cor. 15:45, Heb. 2:14-17, 1John 3:9.2
