Success Criteria for Composition of Audio Accompaniment to Silent Movie

Students must show evidence of understanding and application of:

• Texture: by layering tracks on Garage Band to accompany dramatic action, convey moods or create sound effects.
• Dynamics: using track volume to vary dynamics, fade in or fade out. Mix multiple tracks to create an effective balance.
• Sound effects: use of appropriate sound effects to accompany dramatic action. Sound effects are timed appropriately to suit movie footage.
• Editing skills: Good use of musical elements mentioned above. Evidence of editing loops and the inclusion of tracks that are recorded live.
• Creative composition: the audio accompaniment is original and effective in accompanying the dramatic action and conveying the mood of the video
footage.
