New York’s LGBT Elected Officials for Tom DiNapoli

We stand united in support of the candidacy of Tom DiNapoli, our New York State Comptroller. Without
question, Tom is the candidate for Comptroller who shares and supports the values of the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and has the record to prove it.

In his two decades of public service in the State Assembly and three years as our State Comptroller, Tom has
been a true ally of the LGBT community.

• Tom strongly supports marriage equality. He believes that New York State should respect and
recognize LGBT relationships just as it does heterosexual relationships.

• Tom has led the way in recognizing same-sex marriages in New York. In September 2007, he
directed the New York State and Local Retirement System to recognize same-sex marriages
performed in jurisdictions in which they are legal. This policy guarantees that all surviving
spouses have access to certain retirement benefits, including accidental death benefits awarded
in certain situations and a cost-of-living adjustment to monthly pension payments.

• As a member of the State Assembly, Tom voted in favor of the Sexual Orientation Non-
Discrimination Act, Hate Crimes Protection Act and the Dignity for All Students Act. He also
supports the passage of the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act, among other bills of
particular importance to the LGBT community.

Tom’s Republican and Conservative Party-endorsed opponent, Harry Wilson, has no record on LGBT rights and
has stated publicly that he does not support marriage equality. As elected officials who have fought for the rights
of the LGBT community in Albany and New York City for decades, we simply cannot support any candidate for
statewide office who does not stand up for equal rights for our community.

We are proud to endorse Tom DiNapoli, a public servant who has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the
LGBT community, for a full term as New York State Comptroller.
