Before You Start

This user guide is intended for Amadeus Commercial Organizations (ACOs) and
system user airline staff attending Amadeus functionality training courses.
The information in this document is very brief. We give you an introduction to
each of the major features of the product or area concerned and tell you which
entry to make to obtain detailed information in the Amadeus Online Help. The
entry is indicated on the first line after the topic title (and where necessary in the
text). For example:

HE PRO
If you are required to make two entries, one to access a help subject area and the
second to display a specific page, we indicate the page after a comma as follows:

HE PRO, GP PNE
Note: Spacing between the components of an entry is optional unless
otherwise specified. It is used in this guide to improve clarity and
readability.

Chapter 1
Introduction to Amadeus Fares and
Pricing

HE FAR, GP INT
Amadeus Fares and Pricing is a computerized air travel pricing system. Its
database stores millions of public and private fares for hundreds of different
providers. The Fares and Pricing system can construct an unlimited number of
fares through the dynamic add-on processing facility.
There are five main features in Amadeus Fares and Pricing:
• Fare Displays
• Informative Pricing
• Itinerary Pricing
• Amadeus Best Pricer
• Amadeus Value Pricer
Amadeus receives fares data from different suppliers. For more information, see
GG ASK FQT FDL.

Summary of the Fare Quote and Pricing

Transactions
Amadeus Fares and Pricing entries are divided into two types of transactions:
FQ The Fare Quote transactions display information based on the data contained
in an entry
FX The Itinerary Pricing transactions price a specific itinerary

The following tables present the Fare Quote and Itinerary Pricing entries, and
show whether a PNR is required, and whether each entry is a main entry or a
follow-up entry. For the Itinerary Pricing, Amadeus Best Pricer and Amadeus
Value Pricer entries, the table indicates whether the entry creates a TST or not.
For more information about a specific entry, enter HE followed by the three-letter
transaction code. For example:

Chapter 2
Fare Displays

HE FQD
The fare display in Amadeus shows published fares based on the options
contained in your entry. You can use options to specify airlines, dates, booking
codes, and global routings, and to exclude default taxes. You can also request
displays where the fares are sorted from lowest to highest, or highest to lowest,
or according to whether the displays show one-way or round trip fares. Further
sorting is made according to whether fare types and expanded parameters are
used. You can change displays very easily when you begin your search for fares
with a wide selection, then narrow the search.

Fare Display in Euros

The euro is the single currency of the countries that form the European Economic
and Monetary Union (EMU).
For EMU countries all amounts (fares and rules) are displayed in euros after
pricing transactions: e.g. Fare Display, Itinerary Pricing, Informative Pricing,
Amadeus Value Pricer, Amadeus Best Pricer etc.
To request a fare display between the city of your terminal location and New
York, enter:

FQD NYC
The system assumes that the location of your terminal is the city of origin. You
can request fares for a specific city pair by specifying both the city of origin and
the city of arrival. For example, enter:

FQD HELNYC
The system responds with the following:
• Your owner airline fares if your terminal is configured as an airline terminal,
followed by the common fares (YY), if these exist.
• Common fares (YY), if these exist.
• A list of airlines that have fares for this route if no common (YY) fares exist.
If nothing is specified, the system defaults to the current date and the currency of
the origin city.

A US and Canadian display does not include the global indicator, or the MPM
(Maximum Permitted Mileage), or TPM (Ticketed Point Mileage). The fares are
based on routings.
There are two things to notice in this display:
1. The system appends the letter R after all fares that are round trip.
2. Since all US and Canadian domestic fares are routings, it contains the RTG
column.
By default, all routings used in a US and Canadian fare display are displayed at
the very bottom of the display. For example:
6 NON STOP

Note: You can find more details about a routing by entering FQR followed by
a line number.

more information exists.
You can override this default, and display fares from lowest to highest by adding
the options /IX to your entry.
When fares exist to a specific airport, the system appends a message to advise
you that you can display these fares as well. For example:

You can enter the options in any order, provided that you follow these three basic
points:
• FQD must be first.
• The city pair comes immediately after FQD.
• The following examples are all equivalent:

a specified airline or no fares exist for the request type, the system displays a list
of request types and passenger type codes applicable to the city pair and airlines
you have requested.

Expanded Parameter Codes

HE FAR, GP OPT
You can use expanded parameter codes for markets that use automated fare
notes/rules. Expanded parameters allow you to request fares according to the
restrictions associated with the fare. You can request fares with no penalty
information (NPE), or fares that are non-refundable (NRF), or fares with no
advance purchase requirement (NAP), and so on. For example:

FQD PARNYC/ACO/R,*NAP
You can combine up to five expanded parameter codes in your entry, but only
those codes that are related to different types of restriction, and that are not in
conflict with each other. Separate each code with an dash. For example:

FQD STORIO/ALH/R,*NPE-NAP-RF
The following table lists all expanded parameter codes you can use:

Table: Expanded Parameter Codes

Code Request Type

EU Economy Unrestricted
NAP No Advance Purchase Information
NDA No Day or Time Information
NMX No Maximum Stay Information
NMN No Minimum Stay Information
NPE No Penalty Information
PE Penalty Information
NR No Restriction
NMM No Minimum and No Maximum Fare
NRF Non-Refundable Fares
RF Refundable Fares

You can also add a specific currency amount or a percentage to the penalty value
code, for those fares that carry a penalty condition lower than or equivalent to the
amount referenced in the entry. For example:

FQDLONNYC/ABA/R,*PE100A
-or-

FQDNYCPAR/AAF/R,*PE25P

Chapter 3
Fare Notes

HE FQN
Fare notes contain the conditions and regulations applicable to a specific fare.
Fare notes are also referred to as fare rules.
Fare notes/rules have a maximum of nine versions, each with a specific effective
and discontinue date. When you request fare notes/rules by line number, the
system displays the note/rule based on the dates in the fare display. If you
require a note/rule for a past date, you must request a fare display for the past
date, and then request the note/rule for the fare based on the line number.
Depending on your market, if the fare note/rule exceeds nine pages in length, the
system either displays an index with the applicable paragraphs for you to select
from, or a message saying ‘MAX DATA EXCEEDED, RQST BY INDIVIDUAL
RULE CODE’.

Chapter 5
Fare Quote Tools

Here we explain the calculation entries you can perform, such as mileage
calculations, currency conversions, and excess baggage charges.

Calculating the Mileage

HE FQM
IATA has established a maximum permitted mileage between any two cities in
the world. Mileage fares can allow a passenger to do a small deviation from a
straight line in an itinerary, at no extra cost, or a greater deviation at a cost based
on the maximum permitted mileage fare amount, no more than 25% over the
MPM.
The Amadeus mileage transaction allows you to calculate the mileage for up to
29 city or airport codes. It compares the ticketed point with the maximum
permitted mileage for an itinerary. You have the option to add a date, a route
code, and surface sector indicators.
To request a mileage display from Paris to Singapore, via the following points:
Stockholm, London, Delhi and Mumbai, enter:

MPM Maximum permitted miles from the origin to each city.
For example: PAR/DEL 5376
DC Direction code for MPM.
LVL Level, indicates the mileage surcharge (M) applicable when the fare is
broken at that city. The levels can be 5M, 10M, 15M, 20M, and 25M.
Note: When EXC appears, the mileage surcharge is greater than 25%.
<HGL Higher level mileage, indicates the number of miles available before reaching
the next higher surcharge level.
For example: PAR/DEL 163 extra miles before the mileage surcharge is
raised to 20M
>LWL Lower level mileage, indicates the number of miles over the previous
surcharge level.
For example: PAR/DEL 106 miles over the mileage of 15M
25M Indicates the total number of miles the TPM can be increased before the
mileage exceeds the 25% surcharge level. It is equal to the MPM plus a
25% surcharge.
For example: PAR/STO MPM 1152 + 25% (288) = 1440
XTRA Extra, indicates the number of extra miles allowed. This amount is
subtracted from the cumulative TPM figure. The XTRA column can also
display a minus figure. In this case, the MPM figure is reduced and an * is
placed next to the MPM figure.
Note: This applies to domestic segments only.

Currency Conversion
The Amadeus currency conversion transactions allow you to check exchange
rates and calculate amounts in different currencies. The system converts
amounts based on the rates of exchange for the current date, unless you specify
another date. You can request rates for a past date, for up to 12 months in the
past.
The rates are as follows:
• BSR (Bankers selling rate - the default conversion rate)
• BBR (Bankers buying rate)
• ICH (IATA clearing house rate)
You can use the currency conversion transaction when you are calculating fares
manually, where you need to find the exchange rates between different
currencies and Neutral Units of Construction (NUCs). A NUC is a fictitious
currency, established by IATA as a fare calculating tool.

Excess Baggage Charges

When a passenger wants to check in more baggage than allowed, the airline can
charge the passenger for the excess amount between two cities. The system
calculates the charges based on rates per kilo for the current date. Normally, the
overweight charges have been based on one percent of an airlines one-way
business class fare. This may differ, and it is up to the airline to decide. You can
request excess baggage charge rates for a specific airline, for a specific date, or
rates defined by IATA, based on YY fares.
Two baggage policies exist, the weight concept and the piece concept. Airlines
that apply the piece concept set a maximum limit of weight, size, and number of
pieces that a passenger can check in free of charge. You can find the airline’s
baggage policy and limits in the Amadeus Information Pages GGAIRxx (where xx
is the airline code).
Note: The excess baggage charges transaction does not apply to markets
using the piece concept.

Requesting Excess Baggage Charges

HE FQX
The basic transaction code for requesting excess baggage charges rates is FQX.
To request excess baggage charge rates for 10.5 kilos, between Zurich and
Singapore, at the current rate, enter:

FQX ZRHSIN/10.5
System Response:

90.45/TS/ 10.5/ 950/
>

The system displays three different options, corresponding to the applicable

global routes for ZRH-SIN. Since no specific airline is indicated, the system
defaults to YY rates. The excess baggage charge amount is displayed in the
currency of the point of origin. You can request specific airline rates by including
a two-letter airline code at the end of your entry. For example:

FQX ZRHSIN/10.5/LX
You can also request excess baggage charge rates for a specific date. Enter the
date straight after the city pair, preceded by a slash. Use the format date, month,
year. For example:

Chapter 6
Informative Pricing

HE FQP
The Informative Pricing transaction FQP is a fare calculation tool, which allows
you to estimate the fare for an itinerary. This is especially useful at times when
you need to find the price for an itinerary, but you are not yet ready to make a
reservation.
You must use airport codes, rather than city codes, so that the system can
calculate the appropriate taxes. You can add options to your entry, and the more
specific you are, the easier it is for the system to target a specific fare. If you
prefer, you can create a mask, and let the system guide you through the different
options. You can calculate discount fares, including cumulative discounts.
The following conditions apply:
• You can use FQP for all fares except group fares and air passes.
• FQP is applicable for past-date fares. For more information see Past Date
Pricing on page 88.
If you do not enter any specific options to your entry, the system makes the
following assumptions:
• An adult passenger type.
• The current date for the first segment, and an open date for all the other
segments.
• An open booking class. The system displays the lowest possible price for
each class.
• YY fares for travel agencies, and carrier specific fares for airlines.
• Stopovers at all cities.
Note: For Air France users, and its hosted airlines, Amadeus prices itineraries
based on common (YY) fares.
You must specify an airline for markets where no YY fares exist.

Adding Options
You can make your search for fares more narrow and precise by including
options in your entry. Place options that relate to a segment between the city
codes, and options that relate to the whole itinerary at the end of the entry.
See the following entry, which includes several city pairs:

FQP LHR BOM SYD NRT FRA LON

You can customize your request by adding options. You can request specific
airlines, traveling at specific dates, at specific rates, in a specific class, with
surface gaps, at a specific discount and so on. The following example requests
an itinerary starting in London Heathrow, September 14, with BA in F class, via
the EH global route, to Singapore. The trip continues October 18, with SQ in Y
class, via the EH global route to London Heathrow. The requested price is for a
child, and the point of sale is Paris, but point of ticketing is Madrid:

PAGE 1/ 1

There are two important points to remember when adding options:

• If you use the airline code option, the system uses that airline for all
segments, until you add a new airline code.
• When you use the booking code option, the system uses that booking code
for all segments, until you add a different one. If you do not include a booking
code option in the first city pair, it cannot be included in any subsequent city
pairs.
For more information, see HE FQP.

Tax and Surcharge Options

HE FQP, GP IN2
You can add, withhold and exempt taxes and surcharges using the tax options to
manipulate taxes in a fare calculation. Before using tax options, check tax
information for a country with the FQNTAX entry. for example:

FQNTAX/FR
The above FQN entry tells you which taxes apply. For each tax it tells you:
• Tax code shown on the ticket
• Internal tax type code
The tax code shown on the ticket is usually the country code (except for US), but
there are exceptions. for example, Canadian goods and services tax:
• Tax code on ticket: XG
• Internal tax type: MU
Here is an example of the entry to add all taxes by country code:

FQPBOG/ACOMIA-EWR-MIA-BOG/R,AC-US
The following table shows more options that you can use. For more information
about the tax and surcharge options you can use at the end of the entry, see HE
FQP, GP IN2.

Stopovers, Transfers, and Surface Segments

The system considers all cities you enter in an informative pricing transaction as
stopover points, unless you actually specify a stopover point. Then all preceding
cities will become transfer, or ‘no stopover’ points. The stopover indicator is a
dash (-) and you include it after the stopover city. For example:

The system indicates the surface segment.

You may indicate both a surface segment and a stopover point at the same time.
To do this, enter three consecutive dashes (- - -). For example, with the previous
itinerary, designating Moscow as the point of stopover, and including a surface
gap between Moscow and Frankfurt, enter:

FQP PAR LON MOW --- FRA NCE PAR

If you experiment with the transfer and surface sector indicators, you can
compare the different results the system can produce.

Table: Results Examples

Entry Description

FQP PAR LON MOW – FRA NCE – PAR Stopovers in both Moscow and Nice. The
other cities are transfer points
FQP LIS MAD CDG OSL– Transfers at all cities before Oslo
FQP REK LHR - - FRA CPH REK Surface segment between London and
Frankfurt

The term transfer refers to a connection. Amadeus assumes different time ranges
for transfer points, depending on the market. See the following:
• Up to four hours in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, for
wholly domestic itineraries.
• Up to twelve hours in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
when parts of an itinerary is international. For example: international to
international or international to domestic.
• The same day in Australia and New Zealand for wholly domestic itineraries.
• Up to 24 hours everywhere else.

Chapter 7
Itinerary Pricing

HE FXX and HE FXP

The itinerary pricing transactions allow you to price a PNR. Depending on which
transaction you use, you can choose to store, or not to store the pricing response
in a TST. The itinerary pricing transactions are as follows:
• FXP Prices an itinerary, and stores the response in a TST.
• FXX Prices an itinerary, without storing the response.
The following conditions apply:
• When only one fare is applicable for an itinerary, the system displays a ticket
image, and stores a TST if you are using FXP.
• When several fares apply, the system displays a list of fares to choose from.
• When there is only one passenger, the system displays a ticket image.
• When there are several passengers, the system displays a list of passenger
and fare details.
• A fare proposed by the system is valid until you do an end of transaction (ET,
ER).
• The link with the Amadeus Fares and Pricing server has a limit of three
minutes. If you are inactive for longer than three minutes, you will be
disconnected. Re-enter a pricing entry.
• For selected markets, when the amount of fares offered are equal, carrier
specific fares take precedence over YY fares.
• The system prices an itinerary in the currency of the country of origin, and
automatically converts it into the currency of your terminal location when
needed.
• When you choose to store a TST, remember that the validity of the TST
varies, depending on your location. The TST validity is decided by each
market individually, and may be minutes, hours, or days.
For information about limitations that apply to round, circle and one-way trips, see
Pricing Journey Type Limitations on page 62.

Pricing Unit Concept

HE PUC
The pricing unit concept is a method of breaking a journey into standalone pricing
units. A pricing unit is defined as a journey or part of a journey that is priced
separately and is therefore capable of being ticketed separately.
Amadeus combines the pricing units within an itinerary, if such a combination is
allowed in the routing and if it results in a lower fare than a through fare.
The system processes the Advance Purchase category (AP) of all international
special fares, per pricing unit. If the special fare is part of the automated rules
product, the minimum (MN) and maximum (MX) stay conditions and seasonality
(SE) categories are processed as well.
Note: The pricing unit concept applies to all normal and special fares.
However, the pricing unit concept does not apply to ASEAN extension
fares. ASEAN extension fares are special 'add on' fares for visits to
Asian countries. These must be issued in combination with an
international fare originating inside Traffic Conference 3 (TC3). And the
whole trip must remain within TC3.
You can view the pricing units applied by entering the FQN or FQS follow-up
transaction after pricing. For example:
FQN1

1 - PSGR P1 ADT
>FQN 1-1 ADT LONNYC BA Y2 PU 1 N
>FQN 1-2 ADT NYCLAX AA Y26 PU 2 N
>FQN 1-3 ADT LAXNYC AA Y26 PU 2 N

In the example above, pricing unit 1 is a one-way fare London to New York.
Pricing unit 2 is a return New York to Los Angeles.

Using Passenger Discounts for Pricing

HE PTC
You can request discount fares by using discount codes or passenger type
codes. You can include a PTC in the name field of a PNR, or in a fare discount
element. The discount codes can be included in the pricing entry. See the
Amadeus Online Help for the full list of passenger type codes.

Discount Pricing by Name Field Information

You can include passenger type codes in the name field of the PNR; however,
only three-character codes are accepted. The following PNR shows passengers
eligible for a child discount, infant, youth discount, and senior citizen discount:

Using the FD Element to Specify an Age

Some fares require that an age is specified in the FD element to ensure that the
passenger is entitled to a specific discount.
Here we use the following PNR to illustrate this:

To state that the infant Phil is an infant, use the FD entry and include a passenger
association after the date of birth, as follows:

The system recognizes that 'IN' is an infant discount code, and automatically
adds an INF identifier to the FD element. You can also manually add the INF or
PAX identifier to any PNR fare element. Optionally, you can specify the age,
using a birth date as follows:

Pricing Override Options

HE OVERRIDE
Pricing override functions are permitted in all Amadeus markets. However, some
airlines may restrict their use. If you are using pricing override functions, the TST
in your PNR may be considered manual. It is your responsibility to obtain
authorization from the airline owning the fare for the ticket you are modifying.

Past Date Pricing

HE FQP
The past date pricing option allows you to price a fare in the past as follows:
• Up to six months in the past for the US and Canadian domestic itineraries
• Up to twelve months in the past for all other itineraries.
The system uses the fare and the rules of the date you include in your entry.
Routing and currency conversion information is taken from the current date.
The fail code V is printed on the ticket, unless you price a past date on the day
that the fares change (for example, in markets with several daily fare loads).
Here is an example entry:

FXP/R,12AUG08
You may print a ticket and reprice an itinerary by using the past date pricing
option. For example:

TTP/R,12AUG08
When you combine the print entry TTP with the /R option, the existing TST is
deleted and repriced with a fare of the date you include in the entry. However, the
ticket will show the current date as the issue date.
Note: The /R option only applies to pricing.

88 Edition 2.0
Chapter 7 Itinerary Pricing

Pricing and Ticketing by Fare Basis

You can force pricing or ticketing by fare basis code, provided that the fare rule is
filed in coded format. You may want to do this if, for example, the pricing request
displays the lowest fare, but you know that there is a more expensive, less
restrictive fare available.
There are two options available for pricing by fare basis code:

Table: Pricing by Fare Basis Options

Option Description

/A All fare rules and booking codes are validated and the
TST is guaranteed.
/L Overrides (ignores) certain fare rules, and the TST is
flagged as manual. See HE FAR, GP OP2 for details of
this option.

Note: /A and /L cannot be combined in the same pricing entry. However, /A

can be used with /LI and /LO, which are not pricing entries.
When you use the /A option to force pricing by fare basis code, you can price an
itinerary even if it contains segments for airlines that do not allow pricing
overrides.
To price the whole itinerary with one fare basis code, enter for example:

FXX/A-JRT

FXX Pricing or ticketing entry

/A Slash, A (pricing by fare basis indicator)
-JRT Dash, fare basis code

To price using different fare basis codes, enter for example:

FXX/A2-JRT/A3-J3A

FXX Pricing or ticketing entry

/A Slash, A (pricing by fare basis indicator)
2 Segment number
-JRT Dash, fare basis code
/A Slash, A (pricing by fare basis indicator)
3 Segment number
-J3A Dash, fare basis code

This results in a break in the fare at the off point of segment 2 and the off point of
segment 3.
The system validates the following items when you use pricing or ticketing by fare
basis: stopovers, surcharges, child discount, other discounts, passenger types,
and routings.
The following table contains some examples, and explanations. For further
examples, see HE FAR, GP OP2.

FXX/L2-Y6/L3-Y6/L5-YAP Prices a whole itinerary with different fare basis
codes, without assuming a through fare, breaking
the fare at all specified points
FXP/S2-4/L2,3-YAP1M/L4-LZZ Prices parts of an itinerary, applying different fare
basis codes, and assumes a through fare
Note: When you choose parts of an itinerary
to be priced by fare basis, you must
segment select (S2,4) as well as refer
to the different segment numbers after
the identifier L.
FXX/L-GHWGV/RGRP Prices or tickets by fare basis for group fares
TTP/L-GHWGV/RGRP Note: Currently you may only use this option
for fares filed in Automated Rules
format. The system does not validate
conditions of the group fare rules, and
TSTs created with this option are
considered manual.

Zap-Off
Use the zap-off option to manually apply a discount to an itinerary or a segment.
The discount is applied in the currency of your terminal. The system appends the
ticket designator DISC to the fare basis code, unless you specify something else.
Different fail codes are printed on the ticket, depending on how you use the
option.
You may specify a percentage by adding the indicator P, or an amount by adding
the indicator A. A percentage discount is always applied to the base fare. The
zap-off option defaults to either the base fare, or the total fare. Your default option
is controlled by the fare quote profile. If you wish to override the default set for
you, see the following example of the entries:

FXP/ZO-B75P Zap-off 75% from the base fare (not valid

in USA)
TTP/ZO-T20A Zap-off an amount (20 units) of the total
fare. T (meaning total) applies only with
A (amount) and not with P (percentage).

Pricing will fail if one or more of the following conditions exists:

• The segments being priced are not on the same carrier and user wants to
zapp-off an amount.

90 Edition 2.0
Chapter 7 Itinerary Pricing

• When discounting an amount of the total fare, there is more than one fare
component and more than one taxation applies.
The following message is displayed:
'UNABLE TO DISCOUNT/INTERLINE OR MULTI-TAX'

See HE ZAPOFF for more information.

Tax and Surcharge Options

HE FAR, GP OP2
You can use these options to manipulate taxes and surcharges in a fare
calculation. For more information, See Tax and Surcharge Options on page 67.

Ticketing Carrier Override

The ticketing carrier override option is controlled by the OVC field in your office
profile. If this field is set to YES, you can override the validating airline and print a
ticket on an airline, whether it is participating in the itinerary or not. The fail code
R is printed on the ticket. For example:

TTP/V*NZ
You are responsible for verifying whether a ticketing agreement exists between
the airlines in the PNR and the airline you are validating. The system does not
verify such information when you use this option.
To find out whether a ticketing agreement exists, enter TGAD-XX/YY (XX =
airline in the PNR, YY = the second airline). For example, to check the ticketing
agreement between Air France and British Airways, enter:

TGAD-AF/BA
System Response:

You can also check the ticketing agreement as follows:

• Contact the airline directly
• Enter GGAIRxx (xx = carrier code)

Fare Calculation Mode Indicators

HE FCMI, HE FAILCODE

The system generates a fail code, or fare calculation mode indicator, when you
price or print a ticket with special conditions. These codes are printed on the
ticket, displayed in the ticket image, and stored in the TST. The code can be
either a letter or a number, to indicate how the itinerary was priced.
See HE FCMI for a list of the TST indicators and the entries to create them.
The fail codes are divided into two groups. They are either created by the fare
quote system when you price an itinerary, or by the ticket server when you print a
ticket. Sometimes you may find that you get one code when you price the
itinerary, and another when you print the ticket. Fail codes created by the ticket
server always take precedence.

Chapter 8
Amadeus Best Pricer

HE BEST PRICER or HE FXA or HE FXB

Amadeus Best Pricer enables you to price a PNR with the lowest available fare
for a booked itinerary. It checks for lower fares and availability in lower booking
classes, or for lower fares in the same booking class as already booked. The
system suggests only fares that are applicable to the itinerary and the passenger
type. It also checks the rule conditions.
Amadeus Best Pricer can automatically rebook an itinerary in a lower booking
class, by using the highest access. Alternatively, the system can inform you of
lower fares without rebooking, to enable you to check if the suggested fare is
suitable for the passenger, without changing the PNR. You can also choose to
store, or not to store the pricing response in a TST.
In certain markets, Amadeus Best Pricer checks for lower fares across all cabins
of the aircraft, and gives preference to the highest cabin when the same fare
applies. In other markets, Amadeus Best Pricer checks for lower fares in the
same cabin as the already booked segment.

Using Passenger Discounts with Amadeus Best

Pricer
You may combine multiple passenger types with Amadeus Best Pricer, provided
that the lowest fare per passenger is in the same class for all passengers, and
that the fare rule conditions allow pricing.
If different booking classes apply, the system displays the following message:

If the flight availability for a passenger type is less than the total number of
passengers in a PNR, the system does not display the split PNR message.
Instead it rebooks all passengers in a higher available class.

Entering Passenger Type Codes in the Amadeus Best Pricer

Entry
If the passenger type codes are not included in the name fields of the PNR, you
can include them in the Amadeus Best Pricer entry. However, you must select all
passengers in the PNR, even though you only want to apply a specific discount

Chapter 9
Amadeus Value Pricer

HE VALUE PRICER or HE FXC

Amadeus Value Pricer searches for available low fare itinerary recommendations.
You can use Value Pricer entries with or without an active PNR.
The system returns from 4 to 20 recommendations, which you can choose from
to either create a new booking, or rebook an existing one. Value Pricer processes
multi-passenger types, and guarantees your seat at booking time.
Note: The number of recommendations to be displayed is indicated in the
office profile. the VPN field (Value Pricer number) can contain any
number from 4 to 20.
Amadeus Service Fee Manager is fully integrated with Amadeus Value
Pricer. The Value Pricer recommendations include the ticketing fees by
default.
Value Pricer can be used by a variety of travel agencies, such as corporate,
leisure travel, and multi-national agencies. However, distribution of Value Pricer
will be restricted as a charge will apply. Value Pricer supports domestic and
international sectors, interline routings, and one-way, return, circle, and open-jaw
trips.
Value Pricer is based on Amadeus neutral availability. The following options can
be used to customize your search request:
• Time
• Airline
• Connecting point
• Flight category
• Cabin
Value Pricer supports published fares, negotiated fares, ATPCO private fares,
and interline pricing. generally, all Amadeus Best Pricer and standard pricing
restrictions apply to Value Pricer. Additionally, there are other restrictions that
apply only to Value Pricer.
Your request can contain the following fare options:
• Up to six different passenger types, which are processed simultaneously
• Taxes
• Ticketing date
• Override selling/ticketing city

Amadeus Fares & Pricing User Guide

• Expanded parameters
The minimum elements you need to perform a Amadeus Value Pricer transaction
are:
• Number of passengers (if more than one)
• Origin
• Destination
• Date
You can enter these elements manually, or, if a PNR is present, the system
automatically retrieves them from the PNR.
The only mandatory element in your entry is the destination. By default, if you
only specify the destination, the system searches for low fares for one adult
passenger on flights departing today from the city associated to your office
profile. For example, if you enter:

FXC PAR
and your office is located in London, the system searches by default for low fares
for one adult passenger from London to Paris using today’s date and time.
Using the elements you enter, or from the PNR, the system finds up to nine low-
fare itineraries, and displays them in a recommendation display.

The first recommendation shows the lowest fare available for the current PNR,
that is, the price to beat. The other recommendations show lower fares in
ascending order, or equal fares, for all passengers, followed by the corresponding
itineraries.
The following conditions apply:
• You can only use FXU if:
- You have entered names in the PNR before making an FXC entry
- The recommendation is homogeneous
• The system determines the number of passengers and itinerary data (origin
and destination cities) from the flight segments. Therefore do not specify
these in your entry.
• If the PNR contains FD elements, do not specify the passenger type code in
your entry.

© 2008 Amadeus s.a.s. - All rights reserved 113

Amadeus Fares & Pricing User Guide

• You cannot search for low fares in Temporary Ticketing (TY) mode.
Conditions also apply to the following parts of the PNR: name elements, flight
segments, and FD elements.

Name Element Conditions

With name elements, the Amadeus Value Pricer transaction fails if:
• The number of passengers in the PNR, excluding infants, exceeds nine.
• The PNR contains a group name.
• You attempt to passenger-associate. For example, if a PNR contains an
adult, infant, and child passenger, you cannot enter FXC/P1 or FXC/P2.

Flight Segment Conditions

With flight segments, the Amadeus Value Pricer transaction fails if:
• The PNR is non-homogeneous.
• The selected flight segments in your Amadeus Value Pricer entry contain:
- Open, passive, or ghost segments
- Segments booked using special action codes, for example UM
(Unaccompanied Minor)
- More than six requested segments, including two surface sectors
- More than four different cities
For example, the itinerary below contains two requested segments (Miami to
Denpasar, and Denpasar to Miami) and two different cities (Miami and
Denpasar). All other city and airport codes are connecting points.

Amadeus Value Pricer Options

HE FAR, GP VA2
You can specify options in your Amadeus Value Pricer entry, such as specific
airlines or passenger-type codes. These options apply to both PNR- and non-
PNR based searches.
If the system finds a fare that meets your requirements, it will select that fare
even if a cheaper fare exists.
Here are some examples of options that you can include in your Amadeus Value
Pricer entry:
• Include and/or exclude one of more specific airlines.
• Specify a cabin.
• Include and/or exclude specific connecting points.
• Request non-stop, direct, connecting, or change-of-gauge flights (or a
combination).
• Specify either a departure or an arrival time.
• Specify an hour range. This option is used in conjunction with the departure
and arrival time entry.
• Specify Passenger Type Codes (PTCs).
• Specify the price to beat.
• Use pricing options in the FXC entry.
You can include more than one pricing option, provided that you specify them
in the same /R entry. For example:

FXC/R, LON.LON, *PTC

• Use the following expanded parameters:

- NPE No penalty information
- RF Refundable fares
- NAP No advance purchase information
- NR No restrictions
• Override the departure dates of the segments in the PNR.
• Select segments in the PNR.
For more information, see HE FAR, GP VA2.

Chapter 10
Market-specific Features

HE FAR, GP OP2
All markets using Amadeus are independent from each other, and may have
specific needs. Amadeus tries to meet these requirements, and sometimes
develops specific functions. Here we give introductory information to some of
these functions indicating where to find more information in the Amadeus Online
Help.

Booking Date Override

HE FAR, GP OP2
The booking date override option applies to fares using automated rules. The
purpose is to ignore instant purchase requirements for ticketing, for example to
ignore the date limit, after the reservation is made, by which ticketing must take
place.
However, the system does validate advance reservation and ticketing
requirements prior to departure. The failcode V is printed on the ticket. Enter for
example:

FXX/R,DO-OBD

FXX Basic pricing entry

/R,DO Slash, R, comma and date override indicator
-OBD Dash and override booking date designator

If you do not enter a specific date, the system uses the fare from the current date
by default.

Booking Class Override

HE FAR, GP OP2
When a PNR cannot be priced because there is no fare that matches the required
booking class, this option instructs the system to ignore the fare requirements
and price the PNR with the existing booking classes.
To use this entry, you must first have tried to price the PNR using FXX or FXP
and received the message 'NO FARES/RBD/ CARRIER/PASSENGER TYPE'.

Amadeus Fares & Pricing User Guide

The system will then display a list of alternative fares with different booking
codes.
To override the booking class enter FXV, followed by the line number of the
selected fare from the list. For example, enter:

A Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) is a fee collected from a passenger for using
an airport in the United States and its territories. These fees apply to departing
passengers only. There is a mandatory collection policy for tickets issued within
the US. The same applies for wholly US domestic itineraries, wherever the ticket
is issued.

Storing Historical Fare Records

HE FAR, GP HFR
Historical fare records (HFR) enable you to keep track of the fares you have
quoted to a customer. They are for informational purpose only, and you cannot
delete them from your PNR. You can store these records after a pricing entry.
To create a historical fare record after pricing. Enter:

FR
If you want to add free-format text with the historical fare record, use the following
format for example:

FR/PASSENGER ADVISED OF RESTRICTIONS

You can enter up to 60 characters of free-flow text.
You can also add free-format text only to the fare record, without storing any fare
data from the pricing response. Use the same format as described above, but
add a hyphen (-) directly after the slash in your entry. For example:

FR/-PSGR WILL ONLY FLY ON CO

After you have entered a historical fare record, an indicating HFR flag appears in
the PNR header line when you redisplay the PNR.

Chapter 10 Market-specific Features

The FQL* List

HE FAR, GP FQL
When an FQD entry results in no available fares (a route not served by a
specified airline or no fares for request type), the system displays a list of request
types and passenger type codes applicable to the city pair and airlines you
requested.
To display a list of all existing fare request type codes and passenger type codes,
enter:
FQL*

Alternative Date Validation

HE FAR, GP OP2
Agents in the US may use the alternative date validation (ADV) entry for ticketing.
The purpose is to override the issue date that is printed on the ticket. The system
checks that the date you enter conforms to existing restrictions. The fail code V is
printed on the ticket, unless the entry is performed on the current day.
Before you can make the ADV entry you must ensure that the BDT and FDT
fields in your office profile are set to a value. The BDT field controls the
backdating of tickets whilst the FDT field controls future date ticketing.
The BDT field can be set to no more than 90 days in the past, whereas the FDT
field can be set no more than 3 days in the future. Both the BDT and FDT field
must be set by your help desk.
To enter an ADV for a past date, enter, for example:

TTP/OD19AUG05

TTP Ticket print transaction code

/OD Ticketing option
19AUG05 Past date

The system checks the date entered and compares it to the date in the TST. If
the BDT value is greater or equal to the calculated difference, then backdating is
allowed. Similarly, to enter an ADV for a future date, enter, for example:

TTP/OD20JUN06

TTP Ticket print transaction code

/OD Ticketing option
19AUG05 Future date

Again the system checks the date entered and compares it to the date in the
TST. If the FDT value is greater or equal to the calculated difference, then future
date ticketing is allowed.

Chapter 11
Amadeus Unifares

HE UNIFARES
Amadeus Unifares is a name that Amadeus uses for all its negotiated fare
products, whether they be distribution system products or ATPCO products. For
example, Amadeus Unifares is made up of:
• Amadeus Negotiated Fares
• Amadeus Dynamic Discounted Fares
• Private Fares/Category 15
• ATPCO Category 35
To display Unifares for a city pair, add the option R/U to the fare quote
transaction. For example, enter:

FQD NYCLAX/R,U

This is the regular FQD fare display, except that the F column appears between
the airline and the routing column indicating that it is a Unifare.
You can also view a merged display of both published fares and Unifares by
using the /R,UP entry. For example:

FQD NYCLAX/R,UP
Note: To request an integrated Unifares and Public Fares pricing or fare
display, without needing to add the option /R,UP to the entry, you can
submit a request to Amadeus at office level to make the merged display
the default for fares and pricing displays.
For a list of codes for the various types of Unifares, see HE UNI.
For a description of the FQD display, see HE FQD.

Amadeus Fares & Pricing User Guide

Dynamic Discount
HE DYNAMIC
Amadeus Dynamic Discounted Fares helps you to price your competitive fare
contracts more efficiently for fares that are derived by applying a discount to an
existing published fare.
These fares have been integrated into the Amadeus Fares and Pricing system so
that you can continue to work in the familiar Amadeus environment. Using the
Amadeus Fares and Pricing options, you can display, automatically price, and
ticket these special fares.
In most cases, the rule conditions that apply to the public fare applies to the
discounted fare, but some conditions can vary. The Dynamic Discounted Fares
database contains the exceptions and allows for a waiver paragraph to be added
to the rule for displaying in the fare notes.
To display Dynamic Discounted Fares, use the same entries as for displaying
Unifares. The system response is the regular FQD fare display, except that the F
column appears between the airline and the routing column. The letter U in this
column indicates a Dynamic Discounted Fare. For example:

Chapter 11 Amadeus Unifares

Private Fares
HE PRIVATE
Private fares are fares filed in ATPCO by airlines with a security set in the
category 15. Only authorized offices will be able to quote fares, price itineraries
and issue tickets.
• To display old or non-standard private fares, use the /-PF request.
• To display new or standard private fares, use the Unifares /R,U request.
To display private fares for a city pair, include the option /R,-PF at the end of your
entry. For example, enter:

FQDNYCLAX/R,-PF
System Response:

All carriers that have filed private fares for your office, and for the city pair in your
request, will be displayed. Fares are sorted from low to high, and the fare request
type code PF is displayed at the top of the display, to indicate private fares.

Fares, see HE UNIFARES.

Security
Security for Private Fares is controlled either by the IATA/ARC number of the
encoded rule. The complete IATA/ARC number must include 7 digits.
In addition, the IATA/ARC number must be included in the NPT field of the
Amadeus Office Profile. This IATA/ARC number is the same one that the Private
Fares were filed with ATPCO.

Chapter 11 Amadeus Unifares

ATPCO Negotiated Fares

HE UNIFARES
ATPCO Negotiated Fares (Category 35) are distributed through ATPCO. Using
the Amadeus Fares and Pricing options, you can display, automatically price, and
ticket itineraries using fares that are only available to certain authorized users in
the U.S.
ATPCO Negotiated Fares are loaded and transmitted to Amadeus together with
the public fare data and with the same frequency.
An agent that has both Amadeus Negotiated Fares and ATPCO Negotiated Fares
can display both types of fares in an integrated fare display using the /R,U option.
The integrated fares display shows the letter A for ATPCO Negotiated Fares and
the letter N for Amadeus Negotiated Fares in the fare-type column. For example:

Security
Security for the ATPCO Negotiated Fares is added in the fare rule and
establishes who can view, update, sell or redistribute the fare after the data has
been released to Amadeus by ATPCO.
The security element for Amadeus is either based on a specific Amadeus office
identification or a ‘wildcard’ consisting of the elements in an Amadeus office
identification. This information is recorded in a specific security table attached to
ATPCO Negotiated Fares.
