– Meg Whitman today announced the endorsement of the Deputy Sheriffs' Association
of San Diego County. The association represents more than 3,000 members of the San Diego
County Sheriff's Department.

"Frontline law enforcement professionals agree that California needs strong laws and leaders who
will enforce them, and I am honored to have the support of the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of San
Diego County," Meg Whitman said. "Public safety must be government's first priority. I will be a
tough-on-crime governor, standing side-by-side with the Deputy Sheriff's' Association of San Diego
to deliver a safer California."

"Now, more than ever, California needs a governor who understands the importance of public
safety and how it is the foundation of a successful society; that is why the Deputy Sheriffs'
Association of San Diego County has endorsed Meg Whitman," Association President Hank Turner
said. "Meg Whitman supports the death penalty and the fight to enforce it. Moreover, she will
appoint judges who are tough on crime and respectful of victim's rights. As Governor, Meg
Whitman will make sure law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to keep our
streets and deputy sheriffs safe."

The Deputy Sheriffs' Association of San Diego County joins a growing list of prominent law
enforcement leaders and associations that have announced their endorsement of Meg, including
San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore, former San Diego Sheriff Bill Kolender, the California Peace Officers'
Association, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, the Los Angeles Police
Protective League and the California Narcotics Officers' Association.
