The Volga is the biggest river in Europe and is 3,692 km
long. The river flows through Russia. The river starts is in the north west of Russia. The speed of the river at Astrakhan is 8,060 m3/s. The sources of the river are Valdai Hills and Tver Oblast. The Caspian Sea is the mouth of the river. The Volga has many tributaries. The river Volga is fed by snow.

The River Volga has an upper course but it is not very high up. There are many small lakes in the upper course of the river Volga. The river is a small stream in its upper course. The middle course of the river is where the river starts to get deeper and wider. The middle course is the longest part of the river. The lower stage of the river begins to deepen and get wider and it eventually leads into the Caspian Sea.
There is a legend that in 1836 1000 children were
