CONCEPT OF PRESSURE GRADIENT AND FLUID

CONTACTS

PROBLEM 1:
After perforation in the reservoir formation, Applied compressor and nitrogen to
reduce pressure head and activate the well to flow. After 20 hours of the activation
job, carried out bottom hole study for liquid level and qualitative influx rate. The
result of the BHS is as follows:

Depth (m) SBHP (Ksc) Depth (m) SBHP (Ksc)

1300 45.30 2600 166.37
1400 52.89 2800 186.60
1500 60.92 3000 207.42
1600 69.40 3200 227.36
1700 77.58 3400 247.88
1800 85.91 3600 267.07
1900 94.68 3800 288.49
2000 104.94 4000 308.72
2200 125.62 4100 318.83
2400 146.00 4200 328.94

Liquid level was found to be at 733 m (approximately).Cross-sectional

area of the production tubing = 0.012 m2

Find the qualitative influx rate

PROBLEM 2:

Table 1 (attachment 1) shows recorded data for a shut-in gradient

survey of a well by an electronic memory gauge. The relevant
information for the well is also given in the table. Find out the fluid
contacts in the well.

RESERVOIR PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

Problem 3:
Attachment 2: See the whole attachment for understanding the
reservoir performance analysis of a depletion drive reservoir and do it
yourself in your tutorial note book.

INFLOW PERFORMANCE RELATIONSHIP AND

INDICATOR DIAGRAMS

Problem 4:
In an undersaturated reservoir Pws = 250 Ksc. The following
information is obtained during multibean study. Calculate average P.I.
of the well (both mathematically and graphically).

Bean size (mm) Pwf (ksc) Qo (m3/day)

9 241 257
11 239 315
13 236 407
Problem 5:
Well no. X of a reservoir tested for 8 hours. Rate was 38 STB/D. Well
bore flowing pressure (WBFP) was 585 Psi. After 24 hours shut in
bottom hole pressure (BHP) recorded was 1125 Psi.
Calculate: (i) P. I.
(ii) qmax
(iii) qo at well bore flowing pressure (WBFP) 350 Psi
(iv) WBFP required producing 60 STB/D of oil

RESERVOIR MANAGEMENT

An enormous amount of multidisciplinary data is acquired throughout

the life of a reservoir for successful reservoir management – Justify the
statement giving details of the data acquired, analyzed and integrated in
different stages of a reservoir life cycle.
