Art By the Numbers –
365 of Them
Textile collage artist Elaine O’Neil has cre-
ated a calendar of original art – 12 scenes
that highlight the beauty of our state, from
our basketball obsession to our affinity for
barbecue. The sale of the calendars will
benefit the N.C. Cancer Hospital. They are
available for purchase for $30 at Frank,
Womancraft, UNC Hospital Gift Shops,
Harrington Bank and A Southern Season.
O’Neil’s art is also showcased on the cover
of Chapel Hill Magazine’s and the Chapel
Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce’s

Walking the Walk
THE BUSINESS Lisa Kang has launched
Walk & Wag, a licensed, bonded and
insured dog- and pet-care service. (www.

THE BIG IDEA After she lost two beloved
pets in rapid succession last year, “I found
that I was borrowing and walking friends’
and neighbors’ dogs to fill a void,” she says,
“Starting this business was a natural for me.”
HOW MUCH? After a free 30-minute meet-
and-greet, rates start at $12 for a brisk walk
and go up to $30 for an hour-long walk and
exercise.
NICE TOUCH Owners receive a running
commentary/diary and photos for week-
