Long periods of little or no precipitation are regional in nature (i.e., they represent regional weather conditions). This permits
reasonable comparison of stream flow in areas of similar geology, hydrology, and topography. The USGS maintains gaging
stations where stream height and discharge are monitored. The longer the period of record, the better we can predict likely
low flow and drought recurrence intervals. For the comparative analysis of likely drought recurrence intervals at the Blue
