Stop Republicans from Gutting Health Care

Law
From: The Honorable Peter Welch
Date: 1/3/2011
Dear Democratic Colleague:

Later this week, Republicans are expected to introduce legislation that would repeal the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act. We intend to offer a series of amendments to their bill at
the Rules Committee that will preserve critical provisions of this landmark law that have broad
public support. We invite you to cosponsor these amendments. You may well have other
amendments you would like to offer and we strongly encourage you to do so.

Our amendments will preserve:

• the elimination on lifetime limits;

• coverage of individuals up to age 26;
• the requirement that individuals not be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions; and
• the requirement that preventive care be provided free of charge – including the provision
which took effect just this week that provides preventive services for seniors.

Please contact Kathryn Becker or Jake Oster in Mr. Welch’s office at 5-4115 for more
information or to sign on.

Sincerely,

PETER WELCH ANNA ESHOO
