Title: Integrated Billing, Record Keeping System.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the billing and record keeping of patients
within Tarlac Maternity Center. Tarlac Maternity Center is a small cooperative owned by
doctors with different fields of specialties such as Ob-gynecologist, nurses, mid-wife and
attendants. The management in Tarlac Maternity Center is to simplify record and billing tasks of
patients, the Tarlac Maternity Center believed that by automation of the process of billing and
record keeping is to reduce administrative time required by the doctors and nurses.

Both qualitative and quantitative research methodology was utilized in this study. The
qualitative research consisted of in-depth interviews with doctors and employees of Tarlac
Maternity Center. The quantitative research data was gathered with the aid of a questionnaire.

The results of the study were that the employees and doctors are dissatisfied with the
manual system of billing and recording of patients records. The management was dissatisfied
when it comes to data recording, manual record keeping and billing transaction of the Tarlac
Maternity Center. Almost all employees and doctors are agreed to the automation of the
computerized system. The comprehensive interviews revealed that employees were dissatisfied
with the management style of transaction within the company.

The researchers recommend that management within Tarlac Maternity Center to


enhance the capability of manual billing and record keeping to become computerized for fast
processing of record management and billing capabilities.
