LOCATION: Conifer Drive., and Primrose Drive (Rosewood Village)

COMPLAINT NUMBER: 11-463

INFORMATION: On January 15, 2011 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Pittsfield Township Police
responded to a 911 call from a woman reporting that her husband had assaulted her at their
residence in the Arbor Point Apartments complex on Clark Road, but the suspect left the scene prior
to officers’ arrival. A Pittsfield Township police officer located the suspect's vehicle traveling near Platt
Rd. and Primrose Drive at approx. 4:55 p.m. and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle
in order to apprehend the driver/suspect for the Domestic Assault on his wife. The 30-year-old
suspect was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

When the suspect drove into the Rosewood Village Condominium complex, he parked his vehicle on
Conifer Drive and exited. As the officer approached the suspect, the officer gave several verbal
commands to have the suspect comply. At that time, the suspect made what the officer perceived to
be a life-threatening action. The suspect's actions resulted in the suspect being shot one time by the
officer. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and was transported to the hospital for a
single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The officer was not injured.

The Michigan State Police responded to the scene to investigate the officer-involved shooting
incident. The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety will continue to oversee the Domestic
Assault incident. Following medical treatment, the suspect was released from the hospital, and
Pittsfield officers transported and lodged the suspect at the Washtenaw County Jail pending
