PRODUCTION OF TEA FROM GUYABANO

INTRODUCTION

Filipinos are known to be coffee-drinkers. Having vast lands where coffee is

grown, coffee became one of the most sought after brew especially in highland part of the

country. But as time passes by, people slowly find themselves liking the after taste of

other kind of drinks like tea. Nowadays, it seems that after water, tea is the most popular

non-alcoholic beverage in the world long appreciated for its unique ability to refresh,

relax and revive.

Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, leaf buds, and internodes of various

cultivars and sub-varieties of the Camellia sinensis plant, processed and cured using

various methods. Tea also refers to the aromatic beverage prepared from the cured leaves

by combination with hot or boiling water. The term "tea" is also used to refer to "herbal

teas", which are an infusion or tisane of leaves, flowers, fruit, herbs, or other plant

material that contains no Camellia sinensis. It is also known as nature’s “wonder drug”.

Recently, tea and its healthy benefits have been receiving wide attention in the media.

The ability of tea to promote good health has long been believed in many countries, like

Japan, China, India, and even England.

Aside from the Camellia sinensis plant, teas are also made from other leaves,

dried fruits, flowers or herbs of other plants.
