COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 1329 - By: RITZE of the House.

An Act relating to elections; requiring proof of citizenship for certain


candidates; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

1 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma

2 Statutes as Section 5-111.2 of Title 26, unless there is created a duplication in

3 numbering, reads as follows:

4 All candidates filing with the State Election Board and all candidates filing with the

5 county election board shall provide proof of citizenship to the state or county election

6 board at the time of filing. For purposes of this section, a state government-issued birth

7 certificate with a valid seal sent directly from the issuing agency to the State Election

8 Board and a document containing a photograph of the voter, issued by the state, the

9 federal government, a county, a municipality, or a federally recognized Indian Tribe shall

10 be used to provide proof of citizenship.

11 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2009.
