Dr. Freud’s view
• Representation of the genitals by buildings, stairs
• All sharp and elongated weapons represent the
male genitals

• Small boxes, chests, cupboards, and ovens

correspond to the female genitals.

• A man going up and down on staircases in dreams

represents a sexual act.
 ANALYZING THE DREAM:
UNIVERSAL SYMBOLS
• A "dream dictionary" may not necessarily have
 

the correct definition to the symbol in our

particular dream. Why?
Eg : knife – murder or for cooking

• Details are essential

• Symbols in a dream, are actually the elements

that make up the details.
• ANIMALS: They symbolize our own traits, good
and bad. Eg. health conscious girl dreams of a pig
eating wafers and cheese.

• SNAKE BITES – going through an emotional

trauma and the biting,indirectly pushing you to
move on.
• SHOE – depicts love life ,if in mud then states
where your love life stands.

• BUILDINGS : usually points directly to a specific

area of your life.eg.kitchen,bathroom – hygiene
• DEATH IN DREAMS – change in life or
detachment faced with your loved ones. Eg.dream
of my aunt dying)

• CHILDREN - A child represents to most of us,

something new, different and joyous and also about
yourself.

• CLOTHES – When you get into different moods

you tend to choose different clothing , thus
symbolizing our mood or state of mind.
• PEOPLE- signifies qualities and feelings of those
people in the past that you desire for yourself.
