µC and TOUCH SCREEN BASED LIBRARY BOOK

CATALOG SYSTEM
Abstract

INTRODUCTION: First computers became more visual, and then they took a step
further to understand vocal commands and now they have gone a step further and became
µTOUCHY¶, that is skin to screen. A touch screen is an easy to use input device that
allows users to control PC software and DVD video by touching the display screen. A
touch system consists of a touch Sensor that receives the touch input, a Controller, and a
Driver. The uses of touch systems as Graphical User Interface (GUI) devices for
computers continue to grow popularity. Touch systems are used for many applications
such as ATMs, point-of-sale systems, industrial controls, etc. Touch system is basically
an alternative for a mouse or keyboard. The most commonly used touch technologies are
the Capacitive & Resistive systems.

OBJECTIVE: The main aim of this project is to automate the library nowadays the
Members will have a membership card and if they take any book they need to entry the
book ID and their ID number to the librarian. but our module makes this system entirely
different and also convenient for the members. This project is designed around a
Microcontroller as a Control Unit. This proposed system uses a device touch screen
technology.

METHODOLOGY: According to this project, each and every person who has to be
given authentication for accessing devices is given a RFID card. It means that if a person
has to access any device, then he needs to have a RFID card. This paves the way for
providing authentication over device access and control.
In this project, if a person has to take book in the library, he needs to show up his RFID
card to the RFID reader. The information regarding the person is read from the RFID by
RFID reader and the same is sent to microcontroller. The microcontroller analyzes and
grants access to that particular book for which the particular person is authenticated for.
20x4 LCD is used to show up all the details.
