The first chapter provides with a general idea of translation, the text Raag
Darbari and its author, Shrilal Shukla as well as Gillian Wright. It also tries
to elaborate the research topic followed by the research design. Review of
literature related to translation theories and translation scenario in India
comprise the second chapter. In the third chapter we have tried to analyze
the shortcomings as well as the commendable aspects of Wright’s
translation. We have also tried to decode the reasons behind these
shortcomings. In chapter five we have attempted to translate the untranslated
parts of Raag Darbari and the steps we had undergone in this process of
translation is been discussed in chapter four. The last chapter includes the
findings which stand as a pillar to support our assumptions along with some
suggestions which have been made for the future researchers.
