Action Check for possible causes of error codes listed below:

Definitions:

Hall Sensor – PCB that is located on the back of the motor that senses motor rpm. It is not a
separate part, but rather an integral part of the motor.

“E3” code – Machine control is attempting to drive the motor but is not seeing any tach
response. Visual Check shows motor is not moving. (Locked or Hall Sensor fault.)

“dc” code – Machine never exceeded 400 RPM due to an unbalanced load.

“SUdS” or “Sd” –Suds are detected during the washing session. “SUdS” is not an error. If
the washer is in suds period, “SUdS” will light up (on 2 digit display, “Sd” will show on the
display), instead of the time remaining.

Possible causes of ‘E3’ codes:

1. Spin drum stuck – Verify that the spinner moves freely to eliminate this cause.

2. Hall Sensor fails or is loose – When the Hall Sensor fails or becomes dislodged, the control
doesn't recognize that the motor is spinning and shuts down. The result will likely be an “E3”
code in the worst case, or “SUdS” if it is only getting a partial rpm reading. Check wire
harness connector(s) to motor.

3. A poor connection – Check wire harness connector to motor. Unplug connector and pull on
each wire. If a wire connector comes loose from the plug, bend locking tab up as illustrated.

Lift Tab Up

NOTE: If a locking tab is not properly seated in the plug connector, the terminals will not fully engage as
the connector is plugged into the Motor Terminal Block. Inspect the terminals on the motor side
of the connector. Straighten any bent terminals if they exist. Recheck the harness side of the
terminal block if any bent terminals are found. Bent terminals can indicate a problem with the
locking tab inside the plug.

Motor Terminal Block

Check for possible Bent Terminals

Reconnect harness plug to Motor Terminal Block.

Run washer through a quick service cycle (wash and spin) to check motor operation.

Possible causes of ‘dc’ codes:

1. Earlier built units were more sensitive to detecting unbalanced loads based on motor torque readings. As
a result, the washer would stop and go into redistribution. When this has occurred three times, “dc” code
is displayed. A software change was made to address this issue. Verify the version number of the control
board software in the washer.

To verify software version number:

a. Go into Service Mode (turn ‘ON’ washer then press Chime and Extra Rinse keys).
b. Next press Soil Level (Press twice if 2 digit display). Software version, 'V400' for example,
will be displayed ('V4', then '00' on 2-digit display).
c. Press Soil Level again to leave this mode.
d. Press Chime and Extra Rinse keys to exit Service Mode.

At the series changes listed, the control software was updated to help improve spin performance and reduce ‘E3’
and ‘dc’ codes.

Series 12 for MAH6700AW*’s (Software changed from V400 to V401)

Series 15 for MAH8700AW*’s (Software changed from V400 to V401)
Series 16 for MAH9700AW*’s (Software changed from V311 to V313)
