ABS Temple Warmly Invites You To Attend

A Day Long Retreat with Sobhana Bhikkhuni

423 Glide Avenue, West Sacramento, CA
April 23, 2011 ~ 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pancupadanakkhandha Meditation
The Buddha said, "In short, the five aggregates of clinging are Dukkha." This retreat will explore how to
thoroughly understand the five aggregates in order to gain freedom from emotional distress and mental
obsession. The Buddha's teaching about the five aggregates ... form, feeling, perception, volitional
formations and consciousness ... is a powerful model of the normal human psychology. Ayya Sobhana has
developed a dynamic way of explaining how they work together, like a juggernaut, to keep us locked into
worldly states. She will show how to use the five aggregate model to disengage from our lower reactions
and instead allow wisdom to lead the mind to transcend suffering.

Ayya Sobhana has meditated and trained with Bhante Henepola
Gunaratana since 1989. Her primary practice is the Eightfold
Noble Path, that is, integration of meditation with ethical living
and compassionate relationships for the sake of liberation. She
ordained in 2003 and obtained full Bhikkhuni ordination in 2006.
Last year, Ayya Sobhana moved from the Bhavana Society in
West Virginia to Aranya Bodhi - Awakening Forest Hermitage,
where she is the Prioress. Aranya Bodhi is a new community for
monastic women located on the Sonoma Coast of California.
