It is the policy of the Minidoka County Joint School District No. 331 to compensate classified
personnel for all time worked in excess of forty (40) hours per week. Classified personnel shall
not work hours beyond their regular work schedule unless so authorized by a district level
supervisor, administrator, or building level administrator.

Provisions:
The following provisions will assist in the implementation of this policy:

1. Definition: Overtime is time worked by classified personnel in excess of forty (40) hours
per week or in excess of the regular work assignment.

2. If possible, overtime shall be pre-authorized in writing by the immediate supervisor. In


all instances, overtime will be authorized in writing within one working day of the
overtime occurrence.

3. The immediate supervisor will be responsible for maintaining all records related to
overtime work.

4. Preferable overtime compensation shall be compensatory time. Compensatory time in


excess of 40 hours per week will be computed at the rate of 1 1/2 hours for each 1 hour of
overtime worked.

5. Accumulation of compensatory time shall not exceed sixteen (16) hours and shall be used
within the current pay period when possible. The Superintendent may authorize
compensatory time accumulation (pre-authorized in writing) to a maximum of 32 hours.

6. Any accumulated compensatory time not used within the current pay period and which is
still unused at the end of the succeeding pay period shall revert to paid overtime and will
be paid through payroll at that time. The Superintendent may authorize compensatory
time to be carried forward into the next pay period.

7. Overtime work in excess of 40 hours per week and not compensated through
compensatory time will be paid by salary at a rate of 1 1/2 times the regularly hourly rate.

8. Any exceptions to this overtime compensation policy may be approved by the


Superintendent if an emergency situation exists.
