Methodology

A mix of participatory and non participatory methods are used collected from both
primary and secondary sources primary information is gathered from tribals (including
medicinal practitioners) and the Tamil nadu forest department the tools used for
collecting primary information include questionnaire method, focus group discussion and
informal interviews. Secondary sources are derived from available literature.

The participatory biodiversity research method used in this present study is to be


made useful to the user group situation, and by documenting the process, attention is paid
to how can be made applicable in wider context.

For anatomical investigations standard microtomy techniques are followed


(Johnson, 1940) standard procedures are followed to evaluate the phytochemicals
screening of constituents in the medicinal plants
