MARKET ti HA-3 #27 March 3, 2011 Newburyport City Council 60 Pleasant St. Newburyport, Ma 01950 Dear Councilmen and Councilwomen, 1am asking that you consider allowing the sales and pouring of alcohol on Sundays starting at 10:00 am. in the City of Newburyport. I am requesting that this be put into the agenda for the upcoming City Council meeting on March 14, 2011 to be considered and discussed. In an effort to support all aspects of agriculture in our state and specifically local wineries, the state of Massachusetts recently passed legislature ( $2582 signed by ‘Governor Patrick 8/5/2010) allowing the sales and sampling of wine at Farmers’ Markets through out the state. As The Newburyport Farmer’s Market primary goal is to support local and small-scale farming we would like to support our local wineries by allowing them to sample and sell hand crafted wine at our Sunday Farmers’ market. The market runs from May 1*—Dec 18 and the hours are 9:00 + 1:00. We would like 10 offer to the community the sampling and sales of locally produced wine from 10:00 to 1:00 Sundays, through out the market seasons specified in the legislation. Sincerely, . My husband and I moved to this area 13 years ago from Charlestown, Ma. We were jucky enough to be iome shopping in the middle of Yankee Homecoming. We got a very up close view of the Newburyport community. That sense of community was a significant reason we ‘moved to this area. I soon volunteered for YHC and now I feel honored to Chair this amazing event with an ever dynamic village. At this time, I would like to submit my request for the use of the City of Newburyport for the 54" annual Yankee Homecoming celebration. Each and every year, 1 marvel at the ‘many volunteers who come together to produce Yankee Homecoming. Volunteers come from all walks of life and are looking to make a difference in our community and to simply have fan. We encompass those who remember Yankee Homecoming from their childhood to recent settlers and others from surrounding towns. Because of the ‘community spirit this year I have chosen as my theme, “It Takes a Village”. This year’s ‘Yankee Homecoming dates are July 31 through August 7, 2011. We invite any and all to participate by volunteering, sponsoring or just taking the ‘opportunity with friends and family to really enjoy an event that makes Newburyport the grand “village” it is, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the City Council for its past and continued support of this amazing reflection of our Newburyport community. In addition, my thanks to Mayor Holaday, all of the city officials and citizens for their cooperation and support over the years. } know we will continue to showcase what we as a community are capable of when we come together as one “Village”. ‘Submitted by Cheryl Munick, General Chair 2011 on behalf of the entire Yankee Homecoming Committee. Sincerely, Churn. Munck Cheryl Munick Communication #4 March 14, 2011 March 4, 2011 Attn: City Council Members Allowing us to serve alcoholic beverages on weekend mornings would be beneficial to Agave Mexican Bistro. We serve breakfast burritos and continue on with brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings starting at 9am and many customers have inquired as to whether they could order an alcoholic beverage to go with their meal. Unfortunately, with the current law in place, we lose business because customers can simply drive to New Hampshire and have brunch. Newburyport is a very small city and is blessed with very loyal residents who continue to support our businesses.
