The gun. (See Figs. 7-8} 4. System of operation ‘The mechanism is operated by short barrel recoil and the residual pressure of gas in the bervel. ‘The recoil enlocks the breech and imparts rearward acceleration to the broech block carrier, This seaward socaloration fs asised by the residual pressure of gas in the barrel after unlocking has ‘been completed, ao that the breech block travels back with sulicient force to perform the operations - of extraction, ejection and compression of the return spring. i, Method of storing energy 7 ‘The energy required for closing the breech and cairying a {sesh souitd to the chamber is provided by the return spring, assisted at first by the buffer spring, i 4, Method of supporting the base of the cartridge ‘The breech is locked at the moment of firing by a breech block of the “ Solothura"" type (Lé. of the eame general type as that in the M,G.34) baving a breech block carrier, on the front end of which Sout hoes Hac head yh len and locking eg, |The roll is conjunchon with ele cain surfaces, rotate the breech , caus Tocking engage interrupted anges” in a sleeve on the rear ond of the barrel. A locking catch in the breech block carrier prevents rotation of the breech block: head at the moment of fring fv. Method of preventing rebound of breech block carrier ‘An inertia block, which is arranged to slide in the rear end of the breech block carrier, prevents rebound of the breech block carrier, any tendency to rebound being counteracted by the impact of the inertia block at the end of the forwartt movement. The inertia block also brings about the engagement of the locking catch (see 4, ll. below), vi Cocking mechanism ‘The cocking mechanism i of the chain and handgrip type. ‘The gun can be cocked jn the cSebog nantes an enge to iis bore when Ge pou teat high vetoes, reaing Fie, 62cm, (791) AAJA.
