Assalam-o-alaikum. i wanted to know whether the candidates should be familia
r with all the battles fought during the caliphate of Hazrat Umar abd Hazrat Abu
bakr...they are soooo many and learning them seems a daunting task.....
Monday, May 3, 2010 8:50:00 AM PDT
Ali Asad said...
Hazrat Abubakr's battles are related to his challenges agains false prophets
, who refused to pay zakat and the apostasy movement. so they r not difficult to
comprehend.Hazrat Umar's battles are important in terms of expansion of muslim
empire. so study them relating to expansion.

the is Asad from beacon house Islamabad, i have a question about the the Rel
ationship between the Holy Prophet and the Jews.
I know what happened to each of the three tribes in the suburb of Madinah bu
t i don't clearly understand what each tribe did to deserve what happened to the
m (the Banu Qunaiqa, Banu Nazir, and Banu Quraiza). Can you over all outline the
ir relationship and change of relationship throughout the course of events? It w
ould be alot of help. Also in our end of year exam a question came on this and a
bout the relationship between the christians which im guessing just includes Bah
ira the monk, Najashi the Christian King, and h. Khadija's couosin, but couold m
re be added to that?

AOA
I'm Aayeza Zahid from FFC Grammar School.
I appeared in Paper 1 of Islamiyat this year on 11th May.
Q5 of the paper was:
Explain the teachings of Islam about position of women as Mothers, Daughters
and Wives. (10 marks)
Sir, wasn't this question out of course? It was according to the old syllabu
s. The new syllabus of 2009 does not include this. Does Cambridge give extra mar
ks to candidates who attempt questions that are out of course?

cambrigde has included this portion in biography of the holy prophet. if u s
ee the syllabus in detail, u will find it a part of syllabus. but still i m gree
d with u that directly it is not part of syllabus and they shud not ask tricky q
uestions.
they shud give credit to students to my best knowlwdge

Sir I'm Aayeza Zahid from FFC Grammar School.
I had another question.
This year they gave 3 questions from the biography of the holy prophet. Not
even one question came from Life In Community. But its a rule of cambridge to gi
ve one or two questions from each topic. Never has this happened that the three
questions come from the same topic. Q3 was about Holy Prophet's early life. Q4 w
as events of caves of Hira and caves of Saur and Q5 was the one I told you earli
er. The paper was wrongly set then?
My teacher is going to write an application to British Council for considera
tion. Would that be effective?

Walaikum Salam! Fatima, believe in you and in your God. Calm down and pray t
o Allah.try to concentrate on the required information. You need a lot of practic
e to attempt the past paper questions and then check them through marking scheme
.Mostly questions come on different aspects like major events, expansion, servic

Walaikum salam! mrs Ali,it depends on ur child and u as parents. i wud beter
sugest to go to olevels but if the student has no or least tendency towards ole
vels, it wud be wrong with him.
but once u take any decision, dont b shaky and stick to it. changing it in t
he middle or doing the experiment is really harmful for the child.
