Abstract
The aim of this research is to investigate whether there is a significant effect
of workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence – either partially or simultaneously – on affective commitment. The subject of this research is the civil government employees in Transportation Office of West Java Province. The research method used in the research is hypothesis testing with multiple regression analysis. A questionnaire survey was carried out among the civil government employees of Transportation Office of West Java Province. A total of 100 questionnaire were sent, all of which were completely returned. This research uses data taken from 82 respondents, the numbers that meets Slovin’s requirement of sampling size for 439, the total population in Transportation Office of West Java Province. Within this research, the hypothesis test was performed by using multiple regression method to explore the contribution of workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence toward affective commitment. The research find that there is significant effect (53,3 %) of workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence upon affective commitment in Transportation Office of West Java Province. These findings suggest that developing workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence should be incorporated into organizational programs to build and support the employees’ affective commitment. It also suggests other researchers to make further study and investigation about other factors determining affective commitment.
