Any type of change in a working environment can shift employees out of their comfort

zones. One of the main issues the management of Kucera Clothiers should consider is that of

user confidence, which can impact the performance of the IT project. Along with this,

employees may resist the change more if they do not have confidence that the change is for

better. To help address this issue, Kucera Clothiers should involve end users throughout the

Systems Development Process as well as plan a project risk assessment.

Planning a risk assessment of the project can help with user confidence. The three main

components of risk assessments are user requirements, budgeting, and scheduling. Per Tusler

(1996), out of these three elements, the most important is meeting user requirements. If users are

not confident that the new collaboration system can help in their jobs, they may be more apt to

reject this new system, contributing to its failure. By involving end users in the early processes

of development, user requirements can be identified and addressed, helping make the transition

to this new system easier. This will help improve user confidence, and may also help increase

the effectiveness of the new collaboration system.
