Abstract

Digital signal processing has been used in the audio field for some time. One of its
uses is to modify specific audio signals to generate effects not inherent in the
signal. The digital domain provides quicker and easier methods of audio
processing, especially with increased speeds and decreased costs of
microprocessors and digital signal processors.

The processing of guitar effects is just one of many applications. This

project focuses on the design of a guitar multi-effects processor using a digital
signal processor, development of the code in MATLAB. An acoustic signal
(Guitar signal )is generated in the MATLAB and makes the necessary
modifications and adjustments to it to provide the desired effects.

We produces the M-code in MATLAB for Delay, Flanger, Echo and

Equalizer effects, user controls the selection of effects and their intensities through
a graphical user interface, or GUI, that allows the people to interact with the
programs easily. A GUI offers the graphical icons, visual indicators, typed
commend level or text navigation to fully represent the information and action to a
user.

Our effects processor will take in a live sample output the new sample to a
speaker. A GUI will be used to control the varying effects, and must be easy to use
as well as intuitive. A text box with instructions may be added to the GUI. Which
will explain the user to better feel for the effects.

Digital signal processing is one of the core technologies, in rapidly growing

application areas, such as wireless communications, audio and video processing
and industrial control. DSP techniques have been very successful because of the
development of low-cost software and hardware support. Digital signal processors
are used for a wide range of applications, from communications and controls to
speech processing. The general-purpose digital signal processor is dominated by
applications in communications.

Once the signal is processed with the different generated effects ,the output
of each signal effects and input signal are compared ,then converted back to an
analog signal and sent for the users and others to hear.
